Why am I the only one that isn't impressed? It is just a low-end laptop without the screen. It definitely won't come fully loaded with 8GB of RAM and the Blu-Ray drive for only $350. And the CPU is a 2nd-gen i3? As a media center PC, it might be fine, but I thought that those were replaced by now with smart-TVs and game consoles. The only reason to even HAVE a media center PC that I can think of anymore is to play games in addition to the media, and this surely won't be doing much of that.

Sorry about this not being related to the article guys but, I was reading the guide you guys posted in '09 about installing windows 7 from a usb and I wasn't able to copy the files correctly, it keeps saying that it can't read the source file or the disk and then Windows explorer stops and restarts, I just don't know what to do next....

Again I apologize for this being completely unrelated to the article, but the comments were closed on both the article in question and the windows 8 article....

Hey Paul you mentioned it has a Blu-Ray drive. That's only possible as a piggyback add-on, right? The computer doesnt have any ODD drive by default.

Good catch, and correct. The optional Blu-ray drive is an add-on, which you can plop right on the Q190. It's actually kind of slick; here's what it would look like:

WOW, only $350! Thats a great price for a computer for my parents or even an HTPC.

would this be a good htpc?

But you can only get a Core i3 Sandy Bridge, and the graphics are Intel HD3000. Minimum should be Core i5 Ivy with HD4000 graphics. Why limit the memory to 8GB if the Mac Mini maxes to 16GB?

Your comparing this to a Mac for what reason? What were you expecting for $350?

avatar

big_montana

$350 is the starting price, the Mac Mini starts at $500 and maxes to 16GB of RAM. So as I stated why can this not max to 1GB or RAM if the Mac MINI (notice I stated MINI)can do so?

Man, Lenovo is killing it lately. That's the best alternative to a Mac Mini I've seen yet, and substantially cheaper.
