Leaked Pictures Show New Alienware Laptops
Rumors of an imminent expansion of Alienware's gaming laptop range are nothing new, but till now they have only been restricted to talk of an 18-incher supposedly called the M18x. However, new pictures posted on a forum named dell.benyouhui, and spotted by Notebook Italia, point to not one but two new Alienware laptops from Dell. The previously unheard of second laptop happens to be a 14-incher reportedly called M14x.
There isn't a lot we know at this stage. According to the dell.benyouhui forums, the M18x boasts a 1080p display and features the option of either two AMD Radeon HD 6870M GPUs in CrossFire mode or two NVIDIA GTX 460M chips in SLI. The source expects the M14x to feature either an Nvidia GeForce GT 555m or AMD Radeon HD Radeon HD 6730M or 6770M.

I just bought a M15x for $1200 with I7, 6 gig mem, 500gb 7200hd and 5850 1600x900 display for $1200. The hard drive died within an hour. Called tech support and their was a tech at my house the next day repairing it. What else do you guys want? I read multiple times that an Asus or MSI warranty repair takes up to 6 weeks.

After checking the warranty that comes with current gen alienwares(1yr) vs. current gen(2yr) asus it really shows the quality of the two laptops.
Based off what i learned in quality control and reliability class
The warranty period is all based on the the reliability of the product. Its only there to cover those products who have manufacturing defects not cover hardware that wears out. They know a certiant % will fail with in 1 year, a % within 2 years, a % within 3 years, etc. The first year is covering the manufacturing defects, becuase they know, through historical data, testing, etc. that a large number of components will begin to fail after 1 year. They upcharge for the other warranties becuase they know what % will need service and what % will actually purchase the warranty
ASUS giving a 2 year warranty right off the bat, shows that they are using higher quality components in their laptop.
So in short, chances are your Alienware(Dell) is going to fail after 1 year becuase it only comes with a 1 year warranty.
Yes, i will now get flamed by everyone with an out of warranty product that still works, but im just saying, this is one way they decide warranty periods.

It doesn't matter... those who decide to purchase this or any other alienware is throwing money out the window. and when it fails (and it will) enjoy the fierce hatred and frustration you will develope from discussing your problem with the so-called customer service reps. They literally lie flat out to you! I think i'm ranting now so i'll turn off my $3000 net-book now!
BUY AN ASUS OR SOMETHING OTHER THAN AN ALIENWARE!!
okay i'm done now.
it is a pretty machine though
