Latest Chrome OS Rumor has it Shipping Next Week
We almost made it halfway through November without a Chrome OS rumor, and if the latest inside tip turns out to be true, the oft talked about OS will launch next week so we never have to hear another related rumor again.
At least, that's the word coming from Michael Arrington over at TechCrunch, who says a "reliable" birdie told him we'll all be able to download the lean OS within a week. When and if that does happen, expect sketchy driver support, as Google engineers continue to work around the clock building hardware drivers. Or, according to other rumors, it will be up to hardware manufacturers to get their drivers in line. Whichever the case might be, expected a bit of busted support out of the box.
TechCrunch says the launch will probably be a cautious one in terms of which platform the OS supports. Netbooks will be the most obvious candidates, and it's unlikely Google will tout Chrome as being ready for notebooks and desktops in general. The search-giant-gone-OS-developer might even list specific makes and models that Chrome is known to work with.
Think we'll see Chrome OS next week? Sound off in the comments section below.

I can't wait for Chrome OS to get out there.
Google is probably one of the only companies that can take on Microsoft.
And competition always works out best for the consumer.
It would be amazing if we saw mainstream game publishers develop for Linux platforms and give us more choice.
I doubt this will be happening anytime soon though. Hopefully one day.

I personally can't wait for Google to get bigger and more influential in this areana. I don't hate Windows OS but I think it needs respectable competition. And the idea of getting a good quality, well-resourced OS from Google for free and based on good Linux history is very appealling.
All I got to add is that Apple and its snob-fanbase better start taking note because soon Linux and Google OS Linux will become the "in-factor" and Apple's overly praised and hyped OS and machinery will become secondary and suspect. All that remains is for other computer makers to start taking away Apples appeal by providing good quality service and nice and appealing computers. I don't hate Apple, but I surely don't love them and find them quite annoying.
Godspeed Google, Linux, and, hell even MS for what its worth.

For some reason I feel that it'll be Ubuntu derived and most drivers for quite a bit of hardware has already been created by the linux community so I can't see the driver support being that bad other than having to adapt it to Google Chrome OS. As far as netbook support goes, the majority of them share the same hardware. I've seem them use different wifi cards. but mostly the intel atom/intel chipset, atheros wifi. My Toshiba NB is never mentioned for os's optimized for netbooks but the different distros work just fine with the hardware.
