Last Chance to Pick Up a Windows 7 Family Pack?
If you don't fancy yourself a gambling man and have been putting off picking up a Windows 7 Family Pack, you better get on the ball.
"This product is available for a limited time and will be available to purchase until December 31, or while supplies last," Amazon notes in its Windows 7 Family Pack product page.
Amazon sells the Family Pack for $125, which is $25 less than Microsoft first priced the bundle back in early October. At the time, Microsoft said it would be a limited run, but never specified how long these 3-packs would be available. Once December 31 rolls around, the Family Pack will have been on the market for around 13 weeks. By comparison, Microsoft yanked the 3-pack from store shelves after just six weeks back in 2009.
The Windows 7 Family Pack includes three Upgrade licenses that are meant to be installed on computers running Windows XP or Vista.

I guess my children are just more advanced than yours?
The Pc's I would be upgrading belong to my children. They are teen an preteen, and would more than be able to utilize the aps that are in the better versions of Windows 7.
In fact, I say they are better suited, as they are the next generation of users that will DEFINE the experience for the next 20+ years. All the more reason to make the higher end versions easier to get into their hands.
I personally run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I would be willing to pay a PREMIUM price for a multi license account upgrade. Yet, they only offer a minimalistic upgrade that only the sheep of the computer world would consider a "deal".

they only offer this in the basic package and do not have a upgrade option.
I have many pc's here at home. I however would not spend a dime on the basic win 7 package its worthless in my opinion. I even called M$ on this one an asked if they had a family pack in pro or ultimate. you would think I had told the funniest joke ever the way they laughed at me.
Would think it should be a simple concept, just upcharge for higher versions nope.
so no thanks 3x0=0 to me

it's Home Premium, not starter/basic that's on the netbooks The reason for no Pro or Ultimate is simple: both of those are geared more for businesses than home use. i.e. not the average joe bloe that's screwing around on the web. they have features the home user doesn't really need. I mean if it was a home business I could see pro or ultimate on the machine. but it's called Family for a reason. it's for the average end user (like spouse and kids) to also have on their computers. Obviouslly you didn't grasp that concept even though it's not rocket science. No one needs pro or ultimate on their home machine for surfing the web unless you are just that dumb to think that you need it for being on twitter or reading blogs. hell you don't need either for a gaming rig as it won't make any difference. Just get the OEM versions, they're cheaper by a fe bucks compared to the regular versions. yeah there's not a 3 pack in them but if you want the more expensive version then pay for it, otherwise don't complain because it isn't your flavor of ice cream.

I find it very ironic that someone named PCLinuxguy, who probably uses the ultimate OS for freedom of choice, is telling someone else what operating system they need at home, and berates them for having thought of using anything else.
What....does PCLinuxguy = Hugo Chavez?
I too wish I could pick up a copy of Win7 Pro in a heavily discounted 3-pack. Take that you socialist donkey!

coming from a troll who took that excerpt rather than read the whole thing this isn't half bad. notice I said that for home businesses pro and ultimate would be a better choice as the guy never said why he 'needed' those. and yes for basic everyday computing pro and ultimate are overkill with features you'll never use. getting a discount on those in a pack like this would be nice but only businesses get that luxury sometimes. I've used 'windows' since MS-DOS all the way to windows 7 and still going. I also use Linux alongside it to be versed in both systems rather than just limited to one.
