Kingston Launches External USB 3.0 Media Reader
Memory maker Kingston Technology announced today the launch of its USB 3.0 Media Reader. Kingston's new compact media card reader taps into the performance benefits of SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and offers up to 5Gb/s data transfers for high-resolution images, large data files, and anything else you need to shuttle over to your PC.
"The Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader’s ability to handle multiple card formats combined with its small form factor makes it perfect for use at home, on the road or in the office," said Andrew Ewing, Flash memory business manager, Kingston. "It is the essential device for reading higher-speed cards currently offered in the market and a convenient way to move photos, music, data and more between multiple platforms."
The media card reader is plug-and-play compatible, and like all USB 3.0 products, it's backwards compatible with USB 2.0, though that defeats the purpose. It works with a variety of memory cards, including CF Type I and II, SD/SDHC/SDXC (including UHS-I SDHC and SDXC), microSD cards, and several Memory Stick formats.
Kingston's USB 3.0 Media Reader is available for $45 MSRP.

where is it's internal counterpart?? And instead of including useless ports like CF why not add something more useful like a bluetooth module, remote/receiver, etc along with the sd/micro sd slots.

CF is still the format for the high end pro cameras. I don't understand why there is half a dozen SD variations.

Really? I thought the fastest compact flash was way slower than USB2.0 anyway?
I'm down if there's a speed increase, I'd buy it.
