I just noticed that those tires are going to be hell to change. Look at the size of the phillips head screw driver you need to unscrew those wheels.

"Kia motors is taking the idea of plug-and-play to a whole new level with the unveiling of its all-new electric concept car simply called "POP."

The operative words here are "ELECTRIC CONCEPT" some of the people below really need to READ the article before opening their mouths and speaking...aside from that...I agree with the gearheads out there...I LOVE HORSEPOWER...and will keep my jacked up, beefed up cherokee...VROOM VROOM...then I can politely 4 wheel drive the arrogant tree hugger that is driving that retarded thing into the ground...who cares about an enviromentally friendly car if you can only drive it on the pavement and not use it out in the "enviroment"...

Well said, I love my big engines as well. 5.3 liter V8 Chevy Tahoe, 5.4 liter V12 750iL BMW, I love going fast and drinking fuel at the same time.

On the flip side, I love green *WHEN IT FREAKING SAVES ME MONEY*, not to save the trees (which is a joke anyway). I embrace everything green when there is payback, but when the idiots in Washington force the market in an unnatural direction, we all lose.

The problem I have is that technology isn't moving along nearly as fast as it could and should. The Prius is pretty much all there is when it comes to the latest technology and it sucks. I want to see an all electric car that can go 400 miles on a 10minute quick charge on the highway or 200miles in the city. We should have had cars like that ten years ago.

Listen I'm not a tree hugger or liberal hippy that hates oil. I'm just a disappointed star trek fan. Where in the fuck is my hover car for crying out loud? It's the 21st century and we are supposed to be living in the space age of the future or what the past thought the future should be like.

It's been out for a while.  It's electric, and it goes FAST!  Just the price offsets the money would save at the pump.

Well being an gearhead I beat this has an 2 banger with all of 50hp. And it probley does 0 to 60in 16 secs talking about fast my 89 Ford escort had more power. Thank you I'll stick with my fuel drinking muscle car with the 380 small blcok with headers exchust and a 4 barrel carb. Puting out 375hp. Or shall i go with a 423 small block on the next build.

OK what ever happened to the family car? Not everyone is rich and especially families. I have a wife and three kids that all require child safety seats.

Right now the car manufacturers and just trying to please Washington, and the green, tree hugging wack jobs.

When the car manufacturers actually get their heads out of their asses and actually start producing vehicles that will sell, then the technology will take off and electric cars wont be so silly of an idea.

My idea of an electric car is one that has a 10minute maximum fast full charge time, can accellerate and maintain 85mph, and have a range of 200 miles on a single charge in the city and 350 to 400 miles on the highway. This is roughly equivelant to a medium size family economy car with a four cylinder engine.

Just because the technology isn't capable of meeting those benchmarks doesn't mean it's impossible. Hell, with vaccuum tube technology, Americans were able to land on the moon in the freaking 1960's, so don't tell me we can't make an electronic car that can meet the convenience of a gas car.

A two seater that gets 40miles per charge is a fucking joke. In fact the smart car is a fucking joke. All of the future cars, the electrics and the tiny future cars are put on this earth to try to make Washington and hippies happy, while none of the hippies and politicians actually own any of these crazy cars.

The thing about electric cars is they don't consume hardly any power when idling.  You're mostly just powering the lights, so there won't be a huge 200 mile discrepancy in travel distance between city and highway.

The reason that we can't make an electric car like the one you describe right now, isn't a limitation of vehicle technology.  It's that battery technology isn't there yet.  You can only dump power into a batter so fast right now, and of course it will disperse it's energy when in use.  Jump that hurdle, and you can have you're performance numbers.

There is a big huge difference in city and highway energy use. An electric motor is going to use up a lot of power accelerating from a dead stop and in the city you have to do that a whole lot. On the highways you accelerate to highway speeds and stay there for a long time so you use less power. Your putting a lot more drag on a motor during acceleration compared to maintaining speed. And it's the same thing for gas engines. Your going to use more gas driving in the city compared to the highway because of having to start and stop so ofter. Batteries store energy to be used later, it's a capacitor technology. When I was into CB when I was a trucker I had a huge linear and two large capacitors to keep the batteries from being killed by the current. The capacitors filled with energy that got used by the radio. So we can use capacitors along with batteries as a kind of quick charge that in fact already exists as a technology.

Hell I'm sure we can learn something about battery technology from Nasa, especially considering there are going to be a lot of unemployed rocket scientists available for other industries.

Dude. They ALWAYS do this for concept cars. There is not a single concept car out there that's truly family-friendly. Just because they're doing interseting stuff like this, it doesn't mean they aren't making quality family vehicles. So, chill out, and enjoy looking at a strange, yet awesome, car idea.

but omg does it look stupid at the same time. I'm sure this thing will have insane gas milage and that alone will make me want it. once the price drop hits with its outrageousness. I will forget it exists. ha!

I does look cool.  I probably couldnt fit my fat ass in it, but hey...I can dream about being smaller and saving the planet.. .... dream in one hand and....well, you know.

Man, that looks awesome! I wonder what the pricepoint is on it... y'know what, I wonder about the other specs, too. If it gets good gas mileage (does it even use gas??), I might have to look into getting one myself. It'd be nice to use when driving to hang out with my friends on the weekend.
