Imagine, if you will, a world in which blind loyalty trumps common sense and critical thinking, where the power of marketing and the corporate hype machine are so strong that reasonably intelligent consumers are reduced to social status seeking nitwits on a late night television talk show. Sadly, you don't have to imagine such a place. It already exists, as Jimmy Kimmel proved when his camera crew took to the streets of Los Angeles and handed people an iPhone 4S, and then asking them what they thought of the new iPhone 5 they where holding.
"Oh, it's way better...that's definitely noticeably better," the first test subject exclaims, who said he owns the iPhone 4S.
Most agreed that the iPhone 4S, masquerading as an iPhone 5, felt "a lot faster" and lighter than the iPhone 4S, save for a Hulk Hogan lookalike, who said it felt heavier (he also said the colors are brighter).
"Oh my God, it feels a lot lighter and just more, um, just a lot higher quality," a man says, as he holds the fake iPhone 5 in one hand and his own iPhone 4S in another.

I just had to post this and say LOL @ Silencer. Another brainwashed "R" without any common sense. This isn't 1990's anymore.. times change buddy. Only republicans can start a political war on a tech forum.
Pardon my French, but fuck Apple. I really hope BB 10 turns out well. My galaxy note is great, but typing on it pisses me off big time. I still carry my torch around and switch sim cards when I have to type a lot. I've tried android devices with keyboards, and it really just doesn't match what I get with my torch. My only other choice is iPhone, and I would go back to my old crazr before I bought an iPhone.
Finally! Someone with enough intestinal fortitude to make fun of the blind legion of apple fan boys.
Come on MPC, you write like you feel sorry for apple...I expect better of you. Life is tough; it's tougher if you're stupid.
this is slightly funny. but you know that out of maybe 50-75 people, they chose the 5 idiots to show on tape and cut the rest. selective editing = comedy value but no truth value.
I have a Droid X2 and I am pretty sure if you gave me Droid X2 and told me it was an X3, I would be able to tell it was the same phone. Even comparing the X1 and X2 side by side I saw an immediate difference in screen and button layout.
My point is-I think I would know if I were being fooled and I don't have an iPhone.
I notice the guy who said it was lighter had his current iPhone in a case. I wonder how many people buy a new iPhone, chuck it straight in a case and never take it out. They probably never really get to see what the iphone actually looks and feels like.

exactly why obama was elected pure hype zero substance
Well excuse us for not ignoring the fact that a huge amount of political power is up for grabs for the first time in four years.
And the way things are headed, when American imperial power comes bombing/spying through your door, you can tell them to "feck off". Let me know how that goes for you.
Care to explain your political position and opinions have ANYTHING to do with this article? I'm trying to find the link, but your hatred for whoever is in office, and whatever political party you don't subscribe to isn't in power, but I just can't find that link. It's got to be somewhere right? I mean, if it wasn't, you wouldn't be bringing up this drivel.
My political position is not important here. I was trying to make a point that this is one of the most important times to care about American politics.
And you felt that an article about how gullible iDevice users are, was the best place to make your political statement? That's as bad as the spammers who think we're going to click their infected spam links.
And you were irritated enough to reply to someone having "obama" in their username criticizing Obama, in an article criticizing Apple iusers. Political speech is like bad grammar: it's everywhere and only going to get worse.
I'm sure there were people that were interviewed that said "that's not an iPhone 5". They of course would have ruined the joke. I'm sure a good 20% of the people interviewed were fooled. It's always 20%, because 20% of people are f'n crazy.
This is far more depressing to me:
http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/09/16/iphone-5-customers-in-the-big-apple-camp-out-8-days-early/
People are camping out for the iPhone 5 8 days before it releases (mostly for publicity, but still...). It's a sad society we live in when people camp out for a freakin phone and we can't even get Citizens United overturned.
