No! Don't recommend random letters/numbers! Use the XKCD method instead: ( http://xkcd.com/936/ )
Make a phrase, of random words, and make a picture in your head.

12345? That's amazing. I've got the same combination on my luggage!

Well I see all of the people who read last years list that had the password "password" added the number 1 to it this year.

It's a simple equation folks... Good passwords + you = You - big target on your digital life. - Olly

The funny thing is that most of the passwords above would be 100 times stronger if just written in leet speak. For those of you lazy about passwords, or who have horrible memories, at least do yourselves a favor and use some special characters or something in place of letters - like '@' for 'a' or '$' for 'S'. It can turn a weak password into a relatively formidable one, at least from a top 100 or decryption perspective.

Those versions of the words are probably in the dictionary of passwords these spammers use when brute-forcing. I prefer randomized combinations of letters in both cases, numbers, and special characters.

I like to use braille for my passwords. Than only the blind can brute force.
