Jailbroken iPad Runs Flash
In his tirade against Adobe's Flash platform, one of the reasons Steve Jobs says Apple doesn't allow the popular plug-in to run on Apple's iPhones, iPods, and iPads is because "Flash has not performed well on mobile devices." In fact, Steve Jobs claims his Cupertino company has "routinely asked Adobe to show us [Apple] Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now." Anyone think a demo of Flash running smooth on the iPad would change his mind?
Probably not, but that didn't stop iPhone hacker "comex" from demonstrating it anyway. This is the same guy who developed the Spirit untethered jailbreak tool for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and now he's gone and ported a version of Adobe Flash runtime for Android to run on the iPad using a compatibility layer, which he's calling "Frash."
"Frash can currently run most Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser," reads a description of the YouTube video showing Frash in action. "Frash currently only runs on the iPad, but support for other devices (3GS+ only due to technical restrictions" is planned, as well as support for iOS 4."
Comex says he'll release Frash when it's fully stable, and in the meantime, "developers are welcome to join the effort at http://github.com/comex/frash -- fork it an send a pull request with your patches."

I'm glad you guys finally mentionedsomething from the jailbreak world. In your Mag and Podcast, you always said how copy and pastewas new with the 3Gs and how Multitasking is new with iOS4, along with multitasking, and how MMS at first wasn't possible. You could ALWAYS do ALL of these things right from 1.1.x with a jailbreak. I think jailbreaking should be taken more seriously.

jailbreaking takes time, and knowledge to perform properly otherwise you have a very expensive apple branded brick. I think that could be why it was never mentioned.
When you go to the store to (be raped) buy an iPhone, copy/paste, multi-tasking, MMS was not included. You buy an android handset, and it's included without any extra effort.

great, and its not shooting flames out of the bottom and strangling babies like King Jobs said it would. I wonder, what's their excuse now?

Their excuse is that it's an unofficial OS, and a hack, and that it must be faked, because Apple "can't" do it.

he said that Flash is a resource hog and would ruin the mobile experience.
While I would love for flash to run on the iphone, I do want it to run well and not crash all the time.
as an aside think about how many security updates flash has had this year alone, for their june release there were 16 fixes! with the latest patch.
I think its fine that Steve wants to control the experience on his device, you want a flash phone go ahead and buy one, no one is stopping you, it is a free market you know. if Steve says no shirt, no service or asked that you where a shirt and tie to get into the restaurant thats his perogative!
There is no peace at the gate.

Apple never once, showed any proof of their reasons. That's like AMD not supporting any nVidia graphics cards with their chipsets because all nVidia cards burst in to flame. There's no proof. Yet the public believes them just the same.
It's one thing to say that you have an open and welcoming platform, and follow through with that, but completely different to say that you have an open platform, and yet close every oppertunity to show it. If the iPhone OS is so open, then why have google apps been rejected? Why is Steve-oh having every app that doesn't comply with Apple's views of a utopian society get rejected? Why does Apple un-jailbreak your phone?
And the word you're looking for is wear. Not where. Besides, I'd never eat at an Apple owned resturaunt. There'd be one type of food, you couldn't actually eat it. Just sniff it, and it'd cost 10x as much as other food, which would be superior in every way.

Lets start taking bets as to how long it'll be before the Apple lawyers are on this guy... or Steve-oh calls fake on it or something...
