Jackson's Funeral a Big Day for Internet Traffic
If you watched Michael Jackson's memorial live online, you were far from alone in doing so. According to Akamai, more than 2,185,000 live and on-demand streams in both Flash and Windows Media formats recorded 3,924,370 visitors per minute as of 1PM EST, and more than 3.3 million visitors per minute overall.
Akamai says it was the second-largest day in terms of total traffic on its network. So what day claims the top spot? June 25th, when 4,247,971 global visitors per minute made a mad dash for news sites after reports started flooding in that the king of pop had passed on.
As one might expect, the influx of traffic caused a lot of rebuffering. The live streams served up more than 2 terabits per second during the memorial service held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and Akamai says it delivered 548Gbps of live and on-demand Flash streams. Video stalls were particularly common in Asia, where the time spent waiting rather than watching reached as high as 40 percent, compared to 5 percent in the U.S.

Disclaimer: I've never been a Michael Jackson fan, either before or after the child molestation charges. But I thought the article (quite lengthy) below was an interesting read. And it showed that money can be a very powerful motive for almost anyone willing to hurt and exploit another person.

When you touch so mane people's lives, one day your funeral might be as popular as his. The attention they are putting on him is mirrored from what he has accomplished in his life.
I seriosly don't care what happens in Iran or any middleeastern country where the US is in for the MONEY and OIL. You are on this earth not to fix the world but to "be the miracle" . I remember around 1990 , Michael was for so many growing up teens.

His music was mediocre at best. Meanwhile, people are protesting in Iran, but let's pay attention to the death of one overrated pop star whose sanity was questionable. I don't mean to sound like an ass, but I don't honestly give a shit about him or his death, and I don't see why anybody else should.

I TOTALLY agree with this - I don't mind the ceremony, but the 1 1/2 weeks of full coverage was just too much. There are other things happening in the world you know...

Yeah like that woman actress, forget her name. Not to mention Billy Mays the guy that did all those $19.95 commercials, his commercials we're actually interesting. Like I said, other things happening including other deaths.

I never cared enough to pay attention, but I know they had a warrant at one point, to examine his genitalia... maybe that search was thrown out of court. I find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe that they found what they were "looking for," it was admitted as evidence, and he was NOT convicted.
Some people really do just like kids. It's pretty much a Requirement, to teach kindergarden through 4th grade.
It's just too easy for any kid who spent the night to say "he touched me," and go looking for a payday of more than $5 million. He probably spent well over that, in legal fees, for each accusation.
If he really was a Petiphile, I can't believe he was able to keep his hands off of McCauley Culkin... I'm pretty sure that the Culkins would have required a HUGE pay-day, or pursued it all the way to court.
The news really is amazing though. They could have said the exact same things about him, had he died about 14 years ago. (and not have to pretend their was never any accusations)

*drools* mmmmmmm McCauley Culkin....
Hell if you belive the media all kinderguarden teachers and priests are pedophiles. I say we lock them all up, close kindergarden and shunt down every chrurch.
Think of the children!

I'll never figure this one out. The guy was whacked out and a child molester and people acted like he was a hero. He might have been the King of Pop, but to make such a big deal over it? Sorry, when you start acting that way with kids you can rot for all I care. I know he was found innocent...yeah so was OJ.

Now try to think about it, you said he was this and that like it's a fact. If you were so rich and i sue you for molesting me , does that make it true automatically?Seriously you can prove your theory as much as I can disprove it.
The more disgusting thing is that the whole world was made to believe he was a monster, made his life miserable, and now everyone acts innocent.

i agree. i fully believe these kids (most likely their families) were most likely trying to extort him for his money. they took advantage of his eccentric ways and personality. sure he had his issues, who doesn't, but not to that extent.
