It’s Finally Happening, This Is Not a Drill: StarCraft II Beta Launching “This Month”

You’ve watched. You’ve waited. More than once, you’ve probably lost all hope, given in to despair, and cursed Blizzard’s name while holding your beta key inches away from an open flame. Well, watch, wait, and get all melodramatic no more, because the StarCraft II beta’s been cleared for take-off, and it’s launching “this month,” according to Blizzard.
The news came during a conference call today, straight from Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, meanwhile, is still on track to release in “mid 2010.”
Is there anything more to say? You will be playing StarCraft II in less than 30 days. If you’re not leaping up-and-down while squealing like a big man imitating a little girl, you might want to check yourself into a morgue, because you’re dead.

Don't get excited kiddies. If ya didn't get a guarenteed beta key, there is still a chance you might not get one, which would be quite disapointing. I for one am getting one guarenteed as I won a twitter contest.

Without trying to troll or start a flame war....
It took too long and after activisionhell 'bought' blizzard
and all the wonderful changes occured in star craft.... I don't really care.
200 unit caps still? Come on guys we aren't in 1996 anymore, supreme commander has 1000 on 1000 battles
and nukes there aren't 7 people, they aren't even 1 person (its 0).

Unit caps are simply to force people to THINK about what units they have, instead of turning everything into a I HAVE MOAR UNITS rush. It also has other side effects, such as encouraging co-operation and discouraging Rambo tactics.

Honestly, I lost all the anticipation for this game. I really don't care anymore when or what will happen with regards to Starcraft II. I recall reading first about it back in 2006...this game just took too long to for its release...too long to even care!

I thought this day would never end...but is this a trick...I sure hope not. I have played the hell out of Starcraft and still have an old laptop dedicated to it.

Starcraft has to be my favourite game of all time. Eleven years after its release and I still can't turn up a game of Starcraft with my buddies. Let's hope SCII delivers the promise.
