Internet Streaming Helps Netflix Post Strong Results

The financial crisis does not appear to have caused much trouble to Netflix. The company enjoyed a prolific run during the fourth quarter. The company announced that its year-over-over profit increased sharply by 45% during the fourth quarter to $22.7 million.
Its revenue during the quarter stood at $359.6 million, up 19 percent from the same period last year. The movie rental company surpassed all expectations with its strong showing during the quarter.
Netflix imputed its success to the popularity of its internet streaming service and a reduced marketing bill. Proponents and detractors of digital distribution have another opportunity to lock horns in the comments section.

I had netflix when it first

I had netflix when it first came out, then got tired of it. Recently my cousin came to my house and signed in to stream a movie we wanted through our xbox. Got our movie going without ever leaving the couch, it was excellent. A wonder I'm not fat yet. Nice to see a company doing what everyone is already doing to some extent and succeeding. (OVGuide anyone?) I may have to resubscribe.

HTPC

We use watch instantly all the time on our home baked HTPC, to the point that we could probably drop Cable and not even miss it. Netflix is one of the few companies whose decisions and services seem to be based on *gasp* the consumer experience.
Why is it so hard for the other companies to figure out that by catering to Hollywood's every whim and trying to charge on a per view basis will be popular with customers. Netflix is realistically priced and you don't get penalized or limited for using the service more than your neighbor.
Now if they could just add subtitles and Firefox support...
Netflix with Firefox

It looks like it's already possible to watch Netlix movies with Firefox browser. Check this out:

Unfortunately it doesn't work for Linux or Mac users, so I am still tied to my XP box when I want to use it. The box I am starting to reffer to as my "dedicated Netflix box".
Not true anymore, my friend...

I've been using the Netflix Instant Watching on my Mac for at least a month now. I think thats about when they created a version for OSX.
Directly from their website:

My laptop runs on Ubuntu. Could I set up an XP partition on it? Sure, but I don't feel like it. I tried running I.E. in WINE, but it's a no-go. I wish Netflix would just support Firefox period. I wonder what the O.S. has to do with it?
