Intel Preps New Desktop Chips
Bitten by the summer upgrade bug? Your timing is spot on, as Intel is gearing up to launch several new desktop processors in the third quarter of 2010.
Starting in mid-July, Intel will release three CPUs, including another six-core chip, the Core i7 970. Earlier rumors have this one coming clocked at 3.2GHz, which seems about right given the chip's projected $885 price point (bulk orders). The other two processors slated for a July release include the Core i5 750 (quad-core, 2.8GHz) priced at $206, and the Core i5 870S ($351) aimed at small form factor (SFF) PCs.
In early August, Intel will add a few lower end parts to its lineup, including the Pentium E5700 for $72, Core i3 560 at $138, Pentium E6800 at $86, and the Celeron E3500 for $35.
This will also be a summer of price cuts for Intel, which we've already covered here.

Is micro center going to continue the $200 i7 sale after the 950 price drop? If so, will it still be the 930 or will it be the 950?

How about that Celeron E3500?
Celeron Rocks, man! I begged Intel, please give me some more Celerons, and Intel heared my prayers and Intel delivered.
I hope it will be compatable with my current mobo, or I will have to buy a newer one, possibly with integrated video. Either way, sweet!
