The Intel SSDs review really well, but they're hardly the best prices around. Newegg has a 120GB SanDisk SSD for $140 right now that has great specs and some great reviews. Regardless, I'm definitely enjoying this trend of cheaper SSDs. Such a good investment.

I just bought a Vertex 3 120 GB for $130 before rebate. Now I'm looking for something fast and cheap to replace my 320 GB RAID 0 setup.

Would the 60gb SSD work as a good cache on a Z68/Z77 Mobo with SSD caching smart response?

Also, I was debating between the 120gb Intel 520 and the new 128gb OCZ Vertex 4 for my OS drive on my new PC so any opinions on that? They are both roughly the same price at $180.

Been running the new vertex 4 128gb for a week or so. So far so stable but I wouldn't touch vertex 2/3, they had way too many problems implementing the Sandforce controller. Illindex appears to be much more stable, but time will tell. Vertex 4 vs 520, basically the vertex 4 is incompressible data optimized, so all around more even performance, but seq. read takes a hit. Depends on your use, as a OS drive I feel iops, random 4k and incompressible are the most important factors but I'm sure someone would disagree. Vertex 4 has a 5 year warranty, which doesn't mean lower failure rate, but at least with disc imaging you know you can always get a new drive and restore your image. For 180 they are both great drives, can't really go wrong.

I really cannot comment on the Vertex, but I have purchased all Intel SSD's(over 10 between myself, work, and friends PC's) and have yet to have any issues with them. I believe all are backed by 5 year warranties too.

Speeds may be better for you with the Vertex though, I have yet to see benchmarks on them though, so I cannot be positive.

I Have not had Intel hardware in a computer since the PIII days, but this might make me change my mind.

This would make you change your mind, but not the Core 2 days? Or Sandy Bridge? Or Ivy Bridge?!?
