Well, I trust Anandtech, so Intel gets a pass.  This time.  But honesty is always the best policy, (except in marriage, of course).  They should have been up front about the recorded demo and then set up a station where journalists could try it for themselves later.

I would think it takes longer to set up the demo AND record it vs. just setting it up and running it live.

If there's no reason to deceive, then why do so?
