Intel has begun shipping two next-generation “Cedar Trail” Atom chips, to wit the D2700 and D2500. As the ‘D’ in their names suggests, both the new chips are aimed at entry-level desktops and all-in-on PCs. This comes despite rumors of Cedar Trail-D chips for nettops being delayed until November along with their netbook counterparts. Hit the jump for more.
The two processors, built using a 32-nm manufacturing process unlike their 45-nm predecessors, are included in Intel’s latest price list, which was last updated on Sunday (September 25). The D2700 is priced at $52 and the D2500 at $42. The former is a 2.13GHz dual-core processor with Hyper-Threading, whereas the latter is a 1.86GHz dual-core chip without Hyper-Threading. Both the chips have 1MB of L2 cache and a TDP of 10W.
Cedar Trail chips are said to contain significantly improved graphical and multimedia capabilities when compared to their “Pine Trail” predecessors.
