Info on New Core i7 CPUs Spotted on Retail Sites

Early looks at Intel’s new Core i7 chips have surfaced on retail sites, allowing all of us to see just what Intel has in store for the future.
The new chips are scheduled to launch on May 31, according to the web retailer PCs for Everyone. According to several sites, the new chips will consist of the Core i7 Extreme 975 (which will have a clock speed of 3.33GHz) and the Core i7 950 (which will run at 3.06GHz). These two will reportedly sell at $1,129 and $649 respectively.

So they axed the 2 more expensive i7s and left the lower one for 2 MORE expensive i7s? Seriously over 600 for a cpu is too much..

will that one be replaced soon as well? I hate to think all of us with one will be SOL in 2010. if those are better thatn the 920, is anyone going to be gettingeither of the new ones?

As of now there has been no announcement of a replecement for the i7 920. We may see something at computex, but it looks like the general consensus is that the 920 D0 is here to stay for a while as the budget version of the 920. Although it wouldn't surprise me to see it be upgraded with a slightly more costly version once the i5s arrive.

since the 920 has a difference clock speed i presume they will still be sold.
