Infinity Ward Dashes Hopes of a Modern Warfare 2 Demo

Want to try Modern Warfare 2 before you – let’s face it -- inevitably buy it? Well, too bad. Infinity Ward’s too deep in the development trenches to pop its head up and toss out a demo. So said the developer in a recent tweet:
“No plan for a Demo before launch. The entire team is focused on polish all the way up to ship of the full game,” explained Infinity Ward.
As disappointing as this announcement is, it makes sense. Modern Warfare 2 is set to sell something in the realm of 6.7 billion units, so we don’t imagine too many people are on the fence about purchasing it. And what are a few days of pre-release playtime when you’ll probably be addicted to the game for the next year?

Let's face it, Modern Warfare were designed for console player (hence the regeneration health). Modern Warfare 2 is also focus on consoles. Without a playable demo (which for me, even a small multiplayer game demo could draw the attention since MP is the real reason people are still playing MW), people would just pirate this game before buying it. Which also gives game developer a 'reason' to draw their focus on console market.

What do you mean "made for consoles" because of the regenerating health? That makes NO sense at all man. Regenerating health was just a concet they came up with for COD2, and rolled with it, nowbeing used in all COD games because people liked it.
I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.

All this really does does is give the thieves another excuse, as if they ever needed one or cared, to just steal a copy.
For me, either they come out with a demo or they don't, if they don't they won't get my business no matter what the reviews are, or how big a "6 billion" copy fad it is.
With caveat emptor being the only warranty software has, added to the 100% no return, no matter how badly we have ripped you off, policy there isn't ANY software worth buying unless you can test it first.
MaxPC has proven time and again that there is no such thing as 100% software compatibility across hardware lines, so why would anyone blow $50 just to find out, again, that the software doesn't run on their machine, that the developer doesn't care and will never fix it and is under NO economic insentive to do so because they already have your warranty free money!
Will people never learn?

that irks me too. And i still have yet to find any demos for PC, the're all for 360 or PS3. If the world was ridden of frakkin software pirates, maybe the developers would rid the world of activation keys, and maybe they would change their return policy. but that's a fantasy world where pigs can wear funny hats and talk with a british accent without CGI.

Demos are supposed to be out before a game launches at retail, there no excuse not to have it out before the game launches. How are you supposed to know if a game if good if you can't try before you buy, just because it's a sequel doesn't automatically mean its gonna be as good or better than the original ie Dawn of War II... Might have to get the "extended" demo off bittorent, I guess....

No. 6.7 billion was correct.
It is really, really hard to detect, but it is called "hyperbole" which was added for a slight comical effect.
