True they may have over adjusted the price to try to keep Revenue up, bad things happen in companies when suddenly you have to do more with less.

Personally I was HUMPING the harddrive market when it was 60 Bucks for a 2TB, I was like a kid in a candy store every day at newegg in the harddisk section, I ended up with about 26TB worth of disks by the time the flood happened. I dont know why i bought so many drives of many sizes and speed, and mainly 8 of those WD green 2TB drives. I just had a feeling it was too good to be true all the time. It takes me about 8months to fill up a 2TB. I had offers to sell lots of my drives but after seeing flood prices I said screw that, and just kept them. Now the other day I saw a 2TB drive for 99 bucks... so its slowly coming back down...

hey, it's not like they are a government company. Unless they are found to fix the prices among themselves, it's their prerogative to set the prices however they want, and let consumers decide if they want to pay that or not, let competition sort it out (from other HDD makers and from SSDs)

The even made a recording profit, I believe, 6 billion when in the second quarter? after the flood...
Why wouldn't price fixing generate more revenue? it's difficult to lose money when there isn't a real alternative or competitor...

So the hard drive industry took a hit to production but can still turn a record profit immediately after? I think that tells you that they, the hard drive industry is screwing us so hard my ass hurts just thinking about it. We seriously allow this to happen. Now if they did not raise the prices then would they only have broke even of previous quarters? I think we the consumers are getting played by a bunch of greedy fat cats in suits. grow some brains stop buying their crap and prices will go down.

Are you retarded? They said record revenue not profit. It's sort of expected with the dramatic price increase.

I think it's time for you to take Economics 101.

Wouldn't profits be a more revealing figure?

And this is probably why we still haven't seen the prices drop.

In the second paragraph, shoudln't that be "set in the first quarter of 2010," instead of "set in the first quarter of 2012?"
