IE8 Release Date Looks Like March 20
Posted 03/13/09 at 04:07:45 PM by Mark Edward Soper

The Taipei Times reports that the Taiwanese edition of Internet Explorer 8 will be released next Friday, March 20. The Times interviewed several Microsoft Taiwan personnel, including GM Davis Tsai and platform marketing manager Juno Su, for the story.
So, what does this mean for IE8 in other markets? It's unlikely Redmond would launch the newest version of its browser in only one market on March 20, but if you're still skeptical, take a look at Neowin.net's collection of About IE screen shots gathered from recent Windows 7 builds (7048 and 7057) - there's no mention of IE8 being a Release Candidate or beta as with the IE8 version included in the Windows 7 public beta. Neowin suggests that the most likely venue for the formal roll-out will be next week's Microsoft MixO9 Web Development and Design Conference in Las Vegas. Stay tuned to MaximumPC.com for the latest information.
Are you planning to give IE8 a once-over after the final release comes out, or are you thoroughly in the Firefox, Opera, or Chrome camps? Hit Comment and tell us what's on your mind.

No, I am not joking. I have never really had a problem with Internet Explorer itself to begin with. I have been using IE 8 since the first BETA. I like the overall functionality of it, as it builds on the previous versions. Yes, the "Compatability mode" stuff is annoying, but at least Microsoft is trying to be more standards compliant. Overall though, I just like the way it works, and never have seen a need to go to Fire Fox or something else.
Yes, I've used other browsers. I didn't like Safari, or Chrome because of the layout. I don't use Fire Fox because I have no need for it. IE overall just works for me.

ff + ie tab = never ever need ie again.
my only hope is i will be able to use ie tab in W7 with ie deactivated. if not i suppse i will manage to survive. i genuinely have trouble comprehending why people use ie.
What about the add-ons?

Microsoft's browser has not been the choice for add-on/plug-in developers. Even if core IE8 was everything Firefox is (and my experience using it on Windows 7 is that it is very close), the loss of functionality if I switched would be unacceptable. So I don't care if IE8 might be a hundreth of a second faster loading a Google page, as Microsoft apparently demostrated. When they're that close in performance, it's all about the overall experience.

Compatibility Mode? Hello?
Submitted by Looksback on Fri, 03/13/2009 - 5:37pm
I've been using RC1 and if the final release has that stupid compatibility mode I will be done with it. Can't the browser just be compatible in the first place? Hello?
Nobody cares
