HP Not Through with PCs Yet, Announces 8200 Elite All-in-one
HP might be mulling spinning off their PC business, but that isn’t stopping them from releasing a new desktop PC. The HP Compaq 8200 Elite is a new all-in-one computer for enterprise customers. The system is well-specced and the price starts at only $1000.
The 8200 Elite features a 23-inch LCD panel at 1920x1080. The low-end model runs on an Intel Pentium dual-core, but pricier options include Core i3 and i5 chips. Buyers can get as much as 8GB of RAM and 1TB of hard drive space. Other goodies include six USB ports and an optional Blu-Ray drive.
It’s not a bad machine by any stretch, just not as sexy as a thriving mobile platform. But that’s something HP will apparently never have.

Not a damn word about the printer business. Is that included with the PC deal or is it completely off the table?
Got it, NON-PRINTING CONSUMER HARDWARE from a Wired article...

Doesn't seem "well-specced" to me. " "...starts at only $1000?"
I'd rather have an "over-priced" (as I hear over and over) iMac which starts with an i3 and doesn't use laptop mobos/CPUs. I could run Win7 on it and cover the Apple logo with a piece of duct tape so as not to offend some :P
Really? Are we plugging a sell-out company that ties Dell for the worst possible customer service after they have your money??
I'd look into an Asus or something if I were in the market for an all in one Windows-based PC. Just me.

Why in the world would anyone buy from HP now? They have shown that they cannot be trusted and said that they do not even want to be in the PC business. Perhaps when they sell this for 80% off retail it might be worth looking at just like the Touchpads.

Yeah that's why the stock price tanked. If your going to sell your PC business don't make your intentions public until you've found a buyer and finalised the sale. Otherwise consumers and investors will loose confidence in your products.
