Popular (and always controversial) torrent sharing site The Pirate Bay has been booted offline again after movie studios were able to secure a preliminary injunction against the site's host, CB3ROB, TorrentFreak reports.
"The injunction, which was granted without an oral hearing, stated that CB3ROB and Managing Director Sven Olaf Kamphuis were now prohibited from connecting The Pirate Bay website and its servers to the Internet," TorrentFreak writes.
Citing a Pirate Bay insider, TorrentFreak says the site has no intention of waiting for a decision from the Cyberbunker team and have already started the backup process that will eventually bring the site back online. Since The Pirate Bay's servers are intact, all they would need to do is direct the IP-tunnel through another provider. Once that's finished, it could be a few hours before all ISPs see the change.

To be honest copyright laws are not world wide. If a country decides not to acknowledge American laws and give them legitimacy in their country then they don't have to and there is nothing the US can do. Sure they can sue that country but the only way to make them pay would be to goto war and really is it worth a destructive war? If it was we would have leveled China and Russia ten times over by now.

I would hate to see The Pirate Bay dissapear! It's one of the only decent torrent sites left. Half the software I use is from torrents I found on there. Granted, most of it is pirated software, but what casual user of Adobe Suite programs can afford to drop $1,000 for a legit copy.

Piracy is considered stealing, compared to say stealing a car, its more like id build my own car (make a copy) and you keep yours.
But still i can see how it can harm developers in the future, saying that enough people will buy it to support the game is not an argument, that logic wont hold as piracy gets bigger.

Piracy is not stealing it is copyright infringement because you can't put a monetary value on making copies or distributing a movie online there is no correlation between people dling movies from torrents and actual revenue loss so it cannot be classified as theft. they have sniffers that search for computers accessing trackers. Most companies have business class internet, so employees torrent from work, taking advantage of the internet there. You clearly didn't read the article the soilders have almost 0 access to being able to legally purchase or watch these movies overseas so they have to torrent to be able to watch them or go out and buy illegal copies. I bet you also support the viacom lawsuit against the person who filmed them filming a scene from the upcoming transformers 3. Sure it is illegal to torrent movies but the system is fucked up and change needs to be brought about some way. Fight the power! And yes that is my signature.

Wrong on all counts. I'm highly critical of Obama (aka Bush-lite/Puppet of Goldman Sachs/etc.) Laws and one's government should be questioned on a regular basis. Again, I said one can be critical of certain parts of one's government but still be a patriot. "Hate my government. love my country" Questioning one's government and employing the rights given to you by our Constitution validates your citizenship. Am I less of a patriot because I've used my right to legally assemble and my right to free speech and petitioned my congressmen/senators to protest our invasion of Iraq? Patriots love their country, fools love their government.
As for calling soldiers "killers." Semantically, that's not a problem, it's what they do. What I'm critical of is a military system that musters through an economic draft during peacetime and that is used without accountability by a kleptocracy to enforce global trade innitiatives. What about all the vets who've called for an end of our endeavors in Iraq/Afghanistan? What about all the retired generals who feel the same way? Are you going to question their patriotism? The fact is, when the military is abused by its government, soldiers' deaths are all the more tragic. It's too bad kings don't ride at the vanguard anymore. Those were the days...

Well, after the events of 9/11/2001 I was staunchly opposed to invading Iraq as anyone with a critical and inquisitive head on their shoulders knew Iraq had nothing to do with attacks. The case for invading Iraq and putting our from-mostly-poor economically drafted soldiers in the line of fire was trumped up by liar. Yellow-cake uranium? Valerie Plame? Any of those items ring a bell? I didn't scream racist epithets at Arabs after 9/11/01 despite having clients who died when the towers went down. Last, the quote I railed against was about "hadji copies" of movies, etc. Am I to assume that soldiers buy ripped/filmed movies from people that shoot at them?
The success of our military rides on the legacies of WWII and the insane amount of spending through the cold war. Some of our most successful armed forces were those formed by a draft. I'd like to challenge anyone who wants to call our most recent efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan victories won by the best army in the world. Does the best army in the world go to battle without proper gear? How does the richest country in the world forget to make sure vehicles & soldiers have armor? To finish this tangential point: A mandatory-service military creates greater patriotism, sense of sacrificing one's personal needs for the greater good, and is a social and economic leveler. Example? Israeli military service.
Oh, and go move somewhere else? So people should just quit, pack up and leave because I don't like something about my country? I bet you're the type that doesn't even vote, let alone know how to be politically active. If you weren't, you'd understand that it's ok to dislike something about your government but still be a patriot.
But this is about the recent Pirate Bay situation. I think the Sorcerer's Apprentice analogy is very good. As is the Hydra. Until everyone who knows how to crack goes to work for the MPAA, this is just another minor skirmish.

The hummer was never meant to be an armored vehicle. It was designed to be fast and maneuverable to avoid being targeted by the enemy. Our Army, The BEST FUCKING ARMY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD was trained built for jungle and European wood land combat against Soviet and North Korean forces. The Army is also all encompassing and what I mean is the Army is quick to learn new stratagies. In 9years of fighting the Soviets lost over a million men in Afghanistan. We have lost barely 1000 in almost the same amount of time.
The reason why we are having a tough time of things in Afghanistan is because of a crappy bullshit politician invention called ROE = Rules Of Engagement. Some scumbag fucking Washington politician figured it's best to only allow our soldiers to shoot when shot at. The soldiers just have to hope that that first shot isn't well aimed because that means an American Soldier has to fucking get shot and killed before American Soldiers can fight. WW2 didn't have any king of ROE. When US forces went through towns to clear them of Germans they just tossed grenades into house windows and after the explosion the soldiers would kick in the house doors and open fire on anyone inside. Oops a civilian died. Oops.. Too fucking bad that's war.
As I said it's fucking insane that an American soldiers has to be targeted and shot at before American Soldiers can engage. It's really fucking insane. I'd love to see you fucking commie pinko anti war hippies stand up and be shot at so our troops can follow the ROE.

what if everyone thought the same as you. you probably alot like myself wake up in the morning drive to work, work in an office with little or no chance at all of a bullet flying by you and you want to comment on what these people go through. that is there job. that is how they put food on the table.
our soldiers wake up in the morning without near as much certainty of even making it through the day. alot of these soldiers endure things daily that are unfathomable to people like you and I without actually standing beside them at the time.
I may not have ever supported the war but I do support our soldiers. they are doing what they are told just like everyone else that goes to work.
I think the next veteran you see you should take your hat off. shake his hand and say thank you.

Actually at the beginning of ww2 most people were volunteers enraged by pearl harbor and they were the best. If you would have watched the pacific you would have seen the marines in the beginning were only volunteer and they were the best the draftees that came in later had no idea what they were up against and ended up dying in greater numbers than the ones who volunteered. Draftees generally don't want to be there and aren't motivated like volunteers. The draft is good for building up numbers to absorb bullets not to make an army that knows how to fight wars. And after 9/11 we weren't going to invade Iraq we were focused on afghan and you are a liar if you say you didn't do a double take on arabs at the airport.. And the last war we won was ww2 because that was the last war that there was no media involvement in. When you televise people dying it tends to deminish the war effort so if there was less media we would probably be out of there by now, and terrorists love publicity which the news gives them all the time. Also in ww2 the general public had more of a backbone and didn't sit behind a pc complaining about everything going on in the world. I would have to agree a mandatory military would do this country good we would have less assholes. And isreal racial profiles so we should do that too. And fighting terrorist while establishing a new gov't isn't the same as fighting a war between countries so yeah we did win by eliminating the terrorist friendly regimes and establishing new ones where the people have a choice. And the guy selling you those dvds could very well be a suicide bomber you never know. And that sense of never knowing who can harm you or when just adds to the stress and the mpaa wants to deny them access to movies that can rwduce their stress I'm sorry but fuck them.

Pussy ass Political Correctness and Politician mandated Rules of Engagement is what keeps the US from winning wars anymore and not the media. If a reporter is getting soldiers killed then you shoot the reporter. There were alot of imbedded reporters in the US Military during WW2 like Ernie Pyle who was with the Marines and the Army and was ultimately killed in Action and he wasn't in the Military.
Remember that picture of the Flag Raising on Mt Sarabachi? That was a picture taken by an imbedded media reporter.
The problem is that soldiers that get into a battle and kill the wrong people and if the rules of engagement aren't met to the letter that soldier can face murder charges. That is just no fucking way to fight a war. It's the reason why we lost in Viet Nam. It actually started in the Korean War after the Chinese attacked Macarthurs Marine and Army forces that had pushed the North Korean Army accross the Yalu River into China. Macarthur famously suggested that Beijing be nuked. That is when politicians took control of war from the generals. We are fated to lose close to the same way the Nazis lost because the politicians can't stay out of things. Hitler was one of the most important and valuable assets to the Allied war effert during WW2 and that's a fact.

About the Mexican thing...I assume you are alluding to the Arizona Law? This law strictly forbids law enforcement from demanding papers for no reason. It's clearly defined in the bill that the police officer must already be in the course of making a traffic stop(speeding, headlight out, etc.) or another law enforcement action to ask for proof of citizenship. Will there be abuses by some cops that have an ax to grind? Yes, but that could happen before this bill was passed. Furthermore, it has been a federal law since the 1940's that all aliens keep registration documents on their person(as most nations in the world do including Mexico).
Article 67 Mexican Constituion reads, “Authorities, whether federal, state or municipal, are
required to demand that foreigners prove their legal presence in the
country, before attending to any issues.”
Arizona law simply adds a state penalty to the already existing Federal Law.
Of course we should not prejudge anyone before knowing them. However, are we a nation of laws or not?

No, using BitTorrent is not 'illegal', who the hell told you that, there are a lot of companies who use BitTorrent, MekTek will be using BitTorrent to release MW4, there are MMO companies who use BitTorrent to download patch files to the client. A lot of Linux ISOs are available through BitTorrent, there is even a tracker for movies that are in the Public Domain.

i don't think i ever said that bit torrent was illegal, i'm saying that taking advantage of your company's interent without permission for torrenting, kinda like online gaming at work, is against the company's rules, for the most part. Hell, i use BitTorrent regularly, i just wouldn't use it at work. It's a completely different playing field if you're "pirating" at work, because pirating is illegal everywhere. (that is, unless the judge in your area decides that it's not.)
