I'm also a die hard WD user.... I don't know enough about Hitachi to make a clear judgement. All i can say is when I hear Hitachi hard drives, I just think of an old 32GB hard drive in an OEM computer i had many years ago. They could have come a long way since then.

How does Hitachi suck?  By the way I used to be a Maxtor fan, or Seagate now haha.

5 Platters are a lot. We need 2-3 platters for better performance.

they cram 2TB, not 2GB, onto 5 platters.
