HELP WANTED: Bloggers needed for MaximumPC.com!
We are happy to anounce that Maximum PC is opening up spots on our team of offsite news bloggers. If you have excellent writing skills, a knack for the Maximum PC voice, and a deep-seeded enthusiasm for computers and technology, this might be the opportunity for you. And, yes, we will pay for your blog posts! No experience is necessary; you just need the ability to write three to five coherent, thoughtful, 150-word blog posts per day on a regular schedule. Opportunities for commissioned feature articles may be available as well.
If you think you’ve got the right skillset for the job, send a resume and sample blog post in the MaximumPC.com style to alex [at] maximumpc.com. The sooner the better – we’re looking to fill these positions ASAP.

So did anyone actually get this position? I haven't even gotten an email back saying yay or nay.

Well, you boys don't have to worry about competing with me for these positions.
I had what I thought was a pretty darn good submission. But my 7 year-old was distracting me, and right after I hit Alt-S to email it, I noticed that I misspelled "HELP" in the subject line.
/facepalm

I haven't received one yet either. I'm not in too big of a rush. Classes will be over in three weeks so I have enough to worry about.

I agree with a few other commenters here. A specific topic for us to blog about may help some of us.
If only I had the time...

I don't think that there really is anything on most sites as "original content", which is why you always give other people/sources credit for the article you posted. I believe that you are allowed to re-write an article, so long as you give credit to the original author/source at the end/beginning. In fact, most tech. web blogs do this all the time.

I don't know... I can write just fine, but I'd be hard pressed to come up with 3 to 5 blog posts per day, even if they were short. You'd basically have to blog about what you find on the internet, because it's not like I'd have access to my own sources of info.
I'm not sure what they really expect you to blog about, unless you are basically blogging about things you read on Maximum PC or elsewhere.

I just submitted a ~1000 word demo article I basically generated on the spot (so quality isn't as good as, say, my 7 page history essay on World War II), but I won't be able to achieve 150x3x7... They mention 'schedule' so I reckoned they'd mean 3 articles due every, say, Monday and Thursday every week... Not that I get how that works...
P.S. 7 pages of History @ American equivalent Grade 9 isn't too easy. Just saying.

I would LOVE to, though sadly I go to work and school all day, so I don't think this would be a possibility. I can hardly keep up with my own blog sometimes. :(

Who would want to blog for a site that automatically blocks 90% of peoples submissions? Your spam filter is a fucking piece of shit and has ruined this site. Unless you want every one of your readers to leave because you can't implement a simple spam filter correctly just disable the thing. It doesn't even block the actual spam. Whatever fucking retard decided it was a good idea to implement a spam filter should be taken out back and shot like a dog. And the fact that you are too incompetent to fix the problem for a month now just further proves how little this site actually cares about tech. Just get a bot to copy and submit more yahoo and CNN stories.... if they can make it past the spam filter.

Although I don't agree with the dog part, I do agree with everything else you stated.
I've been with MPC for almost 2 years, and it drives me insane as to why it hasn't been fixed but it's definitely driving me away to other reputable sites to get my dose of info.

I've actually contacted David Murphy about this. One thing is that we all need somethin to write bout for these tryouts. I have some minor scale articles on my website as is, but nothing really recent, and some of it I got information from this very website. However, I see why this was done, so we can pick up news and use it.

Also, another thing. I think it would be easier to have us write a blog post on an assigned topic, I am hardpressed in thinking of my own D:

I would love to apply for this, because I am on the computer every day and I have my own website where I am doing blog posts or game reviews, although I may have difficulty finding news not already taken by someone else at MaximumPC.

Have someone come up with a question, thought, discussion of the day. Then allow everyone to post and have the author respond during the day. I think that would get a more active page. Also, my posts at work often get flagged and not posted by your filter.

Given that the spam filter has eaten my post several times and at least ten revisions over, I just hope whoever gets this job can actually POST anything they've written!

My problem wouldn't necessarily be writing the article per se, but rather the content... All of my info that I divulge to my co-workers already comes from maximumpc.com or kotaku or news.com... There's nothing quite like re-hashing a news article as your own, only to get owned in a forum over how you stole your story...

I would do it but I fear I'm not coherent or professional enough. I do have the love for computers and I have alot of experience to write about but as I said I just don't have the brains to compete with better individuals.

Go for it anyway! I'm in college too, and I make it work. It's kind of stressful at times, but I still highly recommend giving it a shot.
