Jesus. Am I about to witness the same thing happen to silencer as happened to Holly Golightly?

avatar

jgottberg

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen Holly post in a while... What happened?

avatar

Andrew.Hodge

It might be that banhammers came raining down from the sky. I remember reading someone saying something about her posting some pro-socialist rant. I don't know. Is that even enough to get banned over?

avatar

jgottberg

Gosh, I would hope not... I don't always agree with someone's opinion but they are certainly entitled to them nonetheless. Interesting.

avatar

Andrew.Hodge

Just speculation. That was just the impression I was left with.

avatar

jgottberg

@SkinnyZeroOne

I had a few minutes to see if I could find that lovely piece that 'Silenced' submitted regarding the future of technology so you could also get a good laugh at it but he must have pulled it... It's a shame. You really missed out on some good material. Stuff like 'Cardies' - maybe he can ask his mom for the original back (which I'm sure is on her fridge) so he can all grace us with his wisdom again. LOL!!!

avatar

SkinnyZeroOne

@JG
Actually - glad you couldn't find it. I probably never would have gotten past the first 5 words. But way more important, had you found it - you may not have come up with that hilarious bit above. The 'fridge' line killed me man ... That was great - LMAO -)

Also - X Gears a sec please just wanna mention this too as I think it would be a good opportunity to do so here:

@ANDREW.HODGE
Hey man - when I first picked a bone with "What's his name" it all started with his political comments and whatever. It was in the Windows 8 Review comments. On Sept 21st over there you posted this comment (to me):

"Dude, you just made yourself into a bigger asshole than silencer. If you have problems with him making political comments, don't make political comments of your own."

When I read that I immediately said to myself "Know what? He's is absolutely right".

I wanted to say so right there & then but when I read that the comment section had been closed. Totally agree with you on that. Good call - my bad.

JG is correct on his need for attention. From now on I'll try my best not to feed the idiot anymore. But I really do think that the moderators should step in here. Freedom of speech is one thing but carrying on with endless incoherent nonsense is another to me.

Sorry for the lengthy comment gents.

avatar

Andrew.Hodge

It's cool, man. I've been an asshole plenty of times myself.

avatar

SkinnyZeroOne

@jgottberg
I'm with you man. 'Silencer' is a dunce.
I took 'Silencers' ball last time we played & he went home crying to mommy. He said he'd never 'speak' to my stupid ass again. (Track me & this jackass - especially the Adobe article - And the Windows 8 Review where our exchange started). He really is an absolute dolt. Nice to see someone else feels as I do about this babbling jerk.
Speak up people. He has cluttered up this magazine with utter nonsense. One can barely read comments on any news article anymore and not take notice of his inane rambling. Half of his posts are blank lines & the other half may just as well be as they make no sense at all.

avatar

jgottberg

Hey Skinny

Yeah, I have tried taking the high road with him (silencer) but I'm tired of his antics. It's old and tiring... And just too easy to punch holes in just about everything useless he has to say. I too took his ass to the woodshed a while back. You'd think he'd learn but like I said, he's a troll and loves the attention he gets. It must give his pathetic lonely existence meaning when someone takes 4 seconds to respond to him.

You should see how he acts like a puppy dog getting attention if a writer responds even remotely close to his post. Too funny! Oh, and I highly recommend that literary masterpiece he did on the future of technology, if he hasn't pulled it off of here yet. He uses terms like "atomic resolutions" Hahahahaha! He's a joke.

Nice to meet ya skinny!

avatar

SkinnyZeroOne

A pleasure J - thanks for the "Hey"
I think I saw that ridiculous article you referred to somewhere here.
I'm in another flame war with him now but gonna call it a night. I have no problem with anyone that disagrees with me as that makes for good conversation. But I do have a problem with idiots. I mean - how do argue with an idiot? I try & I try, I really do ... Forget it -)
Nice meeting you too J.

Romney looked more comfortable last night but it's always easier to second guess a leader and his methods than to be the one actually MAKING the decisions.

avatar

oldobamaliar

hussein got rolled up and smoked. without a teleprompter we get to see what an inept fraud zerobama is.

avatar

kixofmyg0t

zerobama??!

Wait....

zero. Obama.

Z-E-R-O-B-A-M-A.

OHHHHHH!!!! I see what you did there!!! You combined them to make a funny! Ohhh you! You're so CLEVER!!!!

You really should be comedian!

avatar

jgottberg

I thought I was the only one getting annoyed by these mashups that don't make any sense. "obummer", "oboozer" ugh... I'm not going to go so far as to say I'm a supporter of Obama but the use of his name like that is just efen stupid.

avatar

Carlidan

Hey Jotterberg..... Someone should start a campaign to show Mitt Romeny's Birth certificate. Then he does show it, we'll ask for the original. Which you cannot get. But it would be as funny and ridiculousness as those birthers. Then we'll tackle down his religion, tax returns, his school transcripts. Things that don't have to do with a person's quantification to become the president.

avatar

Andrew.Hodge

Well, that was fun to watch. Mitt Romney just sat up there and chuckled his ass off the whole time.

Youtube has been inserting political ads at the beginning of videos for weeks now. This is nothing new.

Two weeks ago, I just saw CNN doing a piece on Pandora.
Pandora finally turned a profit this year by accepting political ads, and your music preference will be used to determine which ads will be displayed. Does that mean we should steer clear of Pandora as well?

I have Pandora One, so I don't see or hear any ads, but I am interested to see how their system categorizes me, my musical preference (or the artist's stance) often seems to be contrary to my political stance.

avatar

goomothesumo

Ugh... Thanks for the heads up. Facebook, Twitter, any other social sites too. Everyone's posting political stuff.

But anyway, I hope y'all enjoy the year's biggest puppet show.

avatar

Keith E. Whisman

Where are my gold and silver coins with Romney and Obama's images engraved on them? Hell I'll even take a loaf of bread.

Look forward to watching the debate. I'll be watching the debate in the home theater with full surround sound enabled.

avatar

Keith E. Whisman

I've heard on the radio for the past couple of days that the Obama Campaign has ceded that Romney will win tonight's debate because Obama just plain sucks at debates. So I'll be watching to see how bad Obama gets spanked tonight. Would be interesting if Romney can go undefeated like the Cardinals are currently doing.

vistageek

Youtube comments will get even better this week

Watch the debates? What for? Poll numbers I saw this morning said only a very small majority of voters are undecided.

I'll be doing something else more constructive, like playing a video game, cleaning my home office, watching a movie with the wife, building something in Minecraft, working on my budget for 2013, run some missions in EVE Online, or join some friends in Borderlands 2.

Politicians, of all stripes and colors, are seeking their positions for one reason and one reason only: to enact their idea of how everyone should live their lives.

None of them know who we are and none of them care who we are. We are just pawns in their game of control and a source of tax income/sales income and a drag on social program and infrastructure costs/business salary expenses.

Your best solution to all this is to ignore what is going on, and if you want to vote, vote for the one who will do you the least amount damage (not the one you think will help you). Concentrate on your personal earnings, education, and reducing your frivolous spending as must as possible so as to increase your personal wealth.

avatar

p47riot

You probably mean "a small PERCENTAGE" are undecided. And, as close as this race is, those undecided's are going to end up determining the outcome of this election.

The old "bury head in sand" approach is, as is said in the argot of the internet, fail. Epic fail.

"Concentrate on your personal earnings, education, and reducing your frivolous spending as must as possible so as to increase your personal wealth."

Problem is, politicians at any and all levels have the ability to impede your ability to do those things.

Andrew.Hodge

I +1 your -1.

Everybody should be watching this at least for the fact to be less ignorant of what is actually going on in the world.

avatar

someuid

If you want to know what is going on in the world, read some respectible magazines like The Economist, or watch BBC World News.

These politicians are getting up on the podium for one reason and one reason only - to convince you their opponent is the devil. They will re-write history, promise anything in the future, and slice and dice the numbers a million ways until those numbers support their position or damage the opponent's position.

These debates are a waste of time and money and are nothing but a pep rally for each side to croon about how much their candidate is the best choice and the other one is the devil himslf.

avatar

vrmlbasic

BBC World News? Sigh.

avatar

Engelsstaub

Yeah, BBC is just as biased and agenda-driven as Fox News. Sometimes more so.

avatar

Keith E. Whisman

That's what politicians have been doing through out history. The Roman candidates used to make silver and gold coins with their faces on them and throw them to the crowds at parades in an attempt to buy their vote. Julius Cesar even made coins with the images of defeated foes on them so people would remember him at the election booth. All this of course until he declared himself dictator for life and then King and everyone knows that's when he was cut down. Don't know how I wandered off like this but I did.

avatar

tony2tonez

Because politicians are the right source to go to if you want to be 'less ignorant of what is actually going on in the world'....lol.

avatar

jgottberg

"(feel free to make liars of us)."

LOL!!!!!!! That's awesome :)

avatar

Dutchess

Democrats and republicans all work for the same group of bankers running / ruining the planet... Ppl need to forget about the false left/right paradigm.

"Maybe if every four years we let them choose a new leader they wont realize were all psychopaths"

avatar

vrmlbasic

You're joking, right?

avatar

tony2tonez

People put to much faith in politician to think they actually make a difference now a days. Its sad to watch.

avatar

vistageek

True that

avatar

tekknyne

+10. This guy knows who the real crooks are.

avatar

Dutchess

Thanks for the positive feedback. We need more open minded people like u guys. <3

avatar

Brad Chacos

Yes. This is the future. I know what I'm streaming on my TV tonight, just to support the idea (though I might watch with my laptop in hand because political debates usually bore the heck out of me).

avatar

tony2tonez

I rather watch Miguel Cabrera go for the Triple Crown.

avatar

Zstreek

I understand that people hate politics but Democrats want to tax the internet and put other constraints on it. They have already done it in states like California where Amazon users now have to pay sales tax! If you enjoy computer/internet freedom (or any other kind of freedom) vote Republican. Just saying.

avatar

xmichaelx

Romney has said that he'll force you to have an obscenity filter on your computer. How's that for small government and freedom?
http://techcrunch.com/2012/07/24/could-romney-really-ban-porn/

Next time you believe Republicans have any more interest in Small Government than Democrats, remember the PATRIOT ACT and all that came along with it.

avatar

warptek2010

You mean a filter parents could use, if they so desire (not mandated) to protect kids??? Oh that filter.

avatar

Andrew.Hodge

Really, dude? Your source clearly states that in 07, he said he wanted filters on computers provided at no expense that parents could turn on to protect their kids. That is essentially google safe search.

avatar

Andrew.Hodge

Doublepost

avatar

tekknyne

This guy is the trouble with politics.

avatar

Biceps

No kidding. Hey Zstreak, if you cracked open a book once in a while instead of getting your news from Fox (they are lying to you, dude, then laughing about it, and the fact that you are going to get angry at me for pointing out how blatently you are being lied to will make them laugh harder), maybe you would have a better understanding of the topic instead of making shit up - which is basically what you just did.

Seriously. "Tax the Internet"? Come on buddy, you can do better than that. And don't be such a fucking sucker.

avatar

warptek2010

Fox news lie? Like MSNBC and CNN, ABC,NBC,CBS don't???? And for a minute don't you think that taxing the internet is the Holy Grail for Democrats? Who do you think is behind various states attempts to impose on companies like Amazon tax collection on behalf of the state (in my case a very blue state - NY)? It's certainly NOT Republicans - we don't have that many in the legislature. And seriously dude, don't be so unschooled on things.
