Boasting that they've pwned the military doesn't make them any cooler than they are. They should have kept silent and be greatful that they're helping expose the dirty shit NATO, CIA, and other organizations did in the past and the stupid stuff they plan on doing.

It’s the “I’m tough…on the internet.” syndrome.  They believe they are invulnerable and smarter than anyone after them.  It’s called hubris.  Even if it takes YEARS, you can be that one of the people/organizations/governments/businesses that they have fucked with WILL hunt them down.  I seriously wouldn’t want to be looking over my shoulder until it happens.  Talk about a miserable existence of your own making!

Woah!  Back the effing bus up here.  Have we all gone insane?  Why isn't anyone condemning the behaviour of these government run (and some not-so government run) agencies?  Where the hell is the outcry for their punishment?  We're condmening those who, granted, employed illegal tactics in order to retrieve information but the nature of that information and most likely it's heinous content will exponentially outweigh the initial crime of retrieving it.

You are making a whole lot of assumptions about a) their motivation – which has been repeatedly shown to be nothing greater than that of your average vandal and b) that the release of secret information simply because it is secret is reason enough to do so c) that there is in fact “heinous content” of crimes that have NOT been dealt with and d) the release of such information would do more good than harm

I make none of the above assumptions and as a matter of fact, one of the FEW things I want a Federal Government to do is to protect me.  And yes, to do that, secrets must be kept.  There is no “right” to KNOW everything.  If you do not believe that the keepers of those secrets are trustworthy, you have an opportunity ever 2 years (and sometimes more often) to elect new gate keepers.

The only way I’m backing any effin bus up is if these fuckers are BEHIND it! :)

1st, two wrongs don't make a right. Your not 12, I shouldn't have to remind you that evil does not excuse evil.

I could kill a man in cold blood to stop him from extorting children by making them snort coke while making child porn before selling them as sex slaves. I'd still go on trial for murder and I'd still be convicted, no matter how evil and wrong the other man was.

Remember that morality is relative but justice must be absolute.

2nd, when they actually show evidence the alleged wrong doings I will then raise my voice. But I will do this in a place discussing the topic of said government wrong doing and not in a topic about the wrong doing of some hackers.

Hacking doesn't not excuse governments performing illegal activities nor does governments performing illegal activities excuse hacking. They are two separate topics and bringing up either in the other is a red herring.

I'll agree with you when I see that data. I think whistleblowers are great.

I think it's a completely different thing to break into somewhere on a hunch and just hope that the content will outweigh the crime in retrieving it.

Either way, I don't think that's the motivation with these hackers.

I'd like to say I admire them for their activism, but it doesn't seem like they really believe in anything.  Messing with the military is a serious crime. Unless you're exposing some big secret that goes against the public interest, it's really not worth the jail time. It doesn't even seem like they're even using the excuse that they're trying to make people aware of security flaws. They're just being assholes.

These kids are treating this as a game, unless this stops soon this will only end with someone(s) getting hurt. Just take a second and step back to look at what's going on, this is just so twisited:

They are risking their lives* in order to hurt as many people as they possibly can with the justification that hurting other people is funny and if lives are ruined then it's hilarious.

It is probably one of the worst and most hateful things I have ever seen.

* If they aren't caught and killed or caught and jailed, they will be running for the rest of their lives, which is its own kind of prision.
