Google's Chrome Only Browser to See Market Share Increase in February
Google launched their Chrome browser just over a year ago, and new figures from analytics firm Net Applications seem to indicate things are going quite well indeed. The plucky young browser was the only one of the top five to see any gains in the month of February. While certainly far from being the market leader, Chrome is now solidly in third place with 5.61% of the market. Internet Explorer and Firefox took first and second with 61.58% and 24.23% respectively. IE lost 0.54% and Firefox lost 0.20% last month.
Chrome has gained a reputation for being speedy and usable out of the virtual box. It is also reputed to be more standards compliant than other leading browsers. Whatever the reason, users are responding. The recent 4.0 release brought better HTML5 support, bookmark syncing, and the all important extension support.
Firefox came about at a time when Internet Explorer dominated the market almost completely. There was only one fight to be had for the Mozilla team at that point. Chrome is now up against a still widespread Internet Explorer and a very number two in Firefox. Google may not be overtaking a competitor any time soon, but Chrome is definitely moving in the right direction. So, do you use Chrome? Is it better for you than Firefox?

but it doesn't work for the things I need to do at work and it was always pushing things at me. I might try it again as firefox 3.6 is behaving strangely with windows 7 now-windows wont minimize or close, the orange box in the corner just throbs, and it seems to get clogged up the more I use it during the day. I go on a lot of online databases, maybe stream some tunes, download documents from repositories and so on, and it seems to load up and puke. IE8 isn't any better, though, and got hijacked the last time I did some google searches for online documents. Thanks superantispyware and AVG for letting me at least kill the IE8 beast before total mayhem struck.

I was screaming support for the browser on this site when Chrome was brand new and Chrome hand zero market share. Yes I use and still love the Chrome browser on both this laptop and on my T-Mobile Google G1 Android Phone. I love the clean and uncluttered interface and the tabs are just done perfectly. The tabbed browsing isn't just thrown in there as an afterthought. And I still hate Opera and I definately still hate Apple's browser.
Ever once in a while I'll goto Internet Explorer or Firefox when I'm having a compatibility issue but that is getting rarer and rarer these days.
For me Chrome as a browser comes out of the box and installed setup just the way I want it. I don't have to configure it to make it do what I want it to do. I have to make changes to Firefox and internet explorer to make them livable but Chrome is just perfect out of the box.
The bookmark bar is what I really love next to the tabs. As I said there is no settings I need to change to get Chrome working the way I want it to.
This all said I don't use my computer for any kind of work so my experiences and needs will differ greatly from those that have to be productive on their PC's so they will see everything from that end of the universe.

I thought this was going to be the case for me too, and I was surprised to not really have the problem.

One major benefit of online advertising is the immediate publishing of
information and content that is not limited by geography or time. To
that end, the emerging area of interactive advertising presents fresh challenges for advertisers who have hitherto adopted an interruptive strategy.....

We may have different versions. I'd check under the Personal Stuff tab, and look for privacy settings.

Yes it is! I got so fed up with how slow Firefox is on my laptop I jumped ship. I can't believe how much faster it is, even with 25+ extensions loaded. Takes a little getting used to, but so far I'm loving it.
No more clicking the Firefox icon and making a cup of coffee while it loads.

I have the same problem. I have to clear the cache every so often when I want to log into the forums. Just hit the wrench up in the corner and scroll down to options. From there click on the [under the hood] tab. At the very top there is an option to clear browsing data. Click that and then uncheck all boxes except for cache. Okay the settings and then try to log on. You may also have to leave the clear cookies box checked too. Hope this helps.
