Google to Unveil an Android-Based Tablet
You might have heard that Apple released this thing called the iPad. It isn't quite magical, as Stevel Jobs describes it, but the iPad is an important piece of tech, if for no other reason than for kickstarting the handheld tablet market. Competitors will soon step up to the plate with their own take on tablet computing, and one of those competitors could be Google.
According to a report in the New York Times, Google is weighing the pros and cons of building its own-branded slate, which sounds decidedly less shocking now that Google sells a branded smartphone (Nexus One). Details are pretty sparse as the company prefers to fly under the radar while decisions are still being madet, but apparently Google CEO Eric Schmidt was overheard at a recent party in Los Angeles talking about how the device would exclusively run Android. No big surprise there.
Citing "people with direct knowledge of the project," the NYT also says Google has been talking with publishers trying to devise a delivery method for books, magazines, and other content on a tablet. In other words, performing double duty as an electronic reader will probably be a big part of Google's tablet.
When something like this might come to fruition is anyone's guess, but let's hope it's soon.

As long as it is under $200 or $300 I'd get one! Funny story about the iBad... It crashed both networks in my school on both campuses... Some friend of mine got one, and thought it's a good idea to bring one to school... And I go to a giant private school with a powerful and strong network infrastructure.
My exploding trick: Any iBad/iPhone/iMac haters get a lot of silly putty, then clog up the speakers on iPad and iPhone or vents (if they exist) on an iMac and wait for a few minutes... then BIG BOOM!!!!

I saw this coming. Google has really deep pockets and will do anything to push the Chrome OS and/or Android unto consumers.

I think the words you're looking for are "on to". not unto.
And Google develops the Android OS. So why wouldn't they want to bring it to market as much as possible. Apple has done that with MacOS. THe iPod/iPhone/giant iPod all use the iPhoneOS, which is based on MacOS. makes sense to me.
And if you don't want one, or don't like it, don't buy it. Leaves more for those that do want one.

If it supports flash, it's got a leg up on the iPad already!

If it's going to be priced decently - I'm so all over it. Would love a media device like that. x)

How is Google "weighing the pros and cons of a tablet" equal "unveiling"? Have some integrity when choosing headlines please!
