Google Rules Out Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 Apps, for Now

Google Apps product management director Clay Bavor, recently told V3 that the search giant has no plans of building Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 apps at the moment.

He didn’t stop there, though. He candidly told V3, "We are very careful about where we invest and will go where the users are but they are not on Windows Phone or Windows 8.”

I think that just about says it all. Not looking good for Microsoft's latest offerings.

I like some features of windows 8, but for desktop and laptops should be able to just open and function as the old desktop on prior versions of windows did if you choose to opt out of tiles. Maybe this will be cured with an updated service pack?
As to Google developing apps for windows 8 I believe they should focus on their chrome OS for the time being. The ChromeBook needs to get much much has great potential if they remain focused.

Ehh Oh well I don't usually use those stupid apps nor the start screen much with windows 8. Honestly thinking of switching back down to 7 if an when SP1 doesn't deliver anything new or improvements to the OS.

I don't understand why they would make this decision. They know that both will continue to grow over time. If they don't spit out the apps now, users will have already found alternatives they might like better before Google spits out their apps, especially with Bing apps pre-loaded on each.

Meh I could care less what Google develops or doesn't develop for Windows.

Exactly what I was thinking. Why would anyone other than Android users care about what google apps are made or not made?
