I use Liferea instead - because it's a desktop program, it doesn't take 200ms or so to do every action. Has a built-in browser in case I'd like to read more about the article (and it's not published in full in RSS).

Bizarre

I'm not an obsessive newsreader nor do I have hundreds of sites to wade
through. I do the morning routine of skimming my list of sites by hand,
so to speak. I have RSS feeds running stock-ticker style at the bottom
of my firefox which I'm very happy with. I don't have to to any webpage
to look at it, constantly spins stories and if something catches my eye
I can easily access it. I think the name of the extension is RSS
Ticker. It's a great RSS solution for a casual reader and makes a
supplement to "by-hand" news checking.

To be honest, i've come to love the simple sidebar RSS viewer in Vista. If the headline grabs my attention i just fire it up and read the whole thing from it's source website. Windows Live Mail grabs them all for me too, but more often then not i just find myself clicking "Mark all as read".
