Hey.That_Dude

Cool.

*I was going to make a Steam and XB Live comment but they've already been made*

Sounds like Steam for Android. Why is everyone giving credit to apple instead of Steam, who's clearly been doing this with great market success for quite some time?

Because, as my comments already indicated, the topic/sub-headline reads "Google knocks off another iOS feature."

He was talking about features baked into the OSes. There's an app for XBox Live too (though it doesn't have all of the same features as what's accessible on the console.) The only "credit" Apple's getting is for having their own native feature particular to their own "gaming" ecosystem. Now Google does too. They're not getting as much credit as you suppose. Nobody's saying they invented it or something.

According to the Google Play stats for Angry Birds... Over 100 million people still play 2D games.

Ripping off iOS? Sure, if you ignore the fact that all the listed features are already present in both Xbox Live and Steam.

If iOS "rips off" widgets from Android are we implying that Android "invented" widgets??

Google "knocked off" something that Apple first featured in its *mobile OS.* Just like Apple knocked off the pull-down notification thing from Android (and may "rip off" widgets in a future iteration of iOS. AFAIK OS X was the first OS to feature widgets...but who cares? It has nothing to do with their implementation on mobile devices.)

"The fact" of these features on XBL and Steam is purposefully ignored because it is irrelevant when we're talking about mobile OSes.

As a current iOS user I'm ok with Google ripping some of Apple's better features...it does work both ways.

For me I'm more concerned about how something benefits me as the end-user and am (mostly) OS-agnostic. (I was also glad when Instagram made an app for Android. Instagram is great and I want to be able to connect and share with as many users as possible...not just people with iPhones.)

I expect to see plenty more copying between the competing OSes in both directions. As long as both Apple and Google do their share of innovation (and the former doesn't get all litigious about it) we all benefit.
