What does a company do when they've got more money than they can possible spend? Well, they make this video apparently. In this new promo video for Google Search with My Location, we get a peek into the strange, strange mind of Google. The service is actually very useful, pulling up local search results without forcing the user to enter any location information.
The anonymous Googler gives a quick explanation of the feature, then demonstrates it, for ten minutes, by showing us all the places you might (or might not) find pizza. You have to admire his ability to keep a straight face all the way through. He does eventually need some water, but keeps up his search. Sure, he may be looking for pizza, but he ends up with a different food item late in the vid. By the way, he's using an iPhone. We think this is designed merely to confuse and amuse us. Let us know what you think Google is up to here.
EASTER EGGS!!!!!! Click on the basketball at 0:42, on the word “azzip” at 1:22, on the fire at 1:47, on the word “Florida” at 4:39, on the horse head at 5:49, on the dinosaur at 6:36, on Santa at 7:58 and on the toast at 9:06. from warwormx over at google video
This video simply portrays the Google Streetview worker looking for pizza while flipping through all of the pictures and videos from the stolen WiFi data Google collected.
I don't understand why Google would develop a commercial that so obviously not only confuses the viewer, but advertises their product as broken. For ten minutes he says "Pizza" and not once does he get it. This doesn't make me want to use it! I'll use some other App I can find to get me there. Funny or not, it doesn't seem wise as a business that wants people to use their product.
Yes, I'm joking, but I'm speaking from both perspectives. If you watch this and you understand it, you're fine. But how many people do you know that are going to watch that and respond the same way I just did? I know way too many people that would watch that and be dumbfounded and think "Why bother with this, it doesn't work for him"
They accounted for the people that were way too stupid to understand it was a joke. Instead of an android phone the guy is using an iPhone. So if people are stupid enough to not get it and think its broken, they are stupid enough to believe that its tied to ios and not android.
