I'm skeptical of this too. Just looking at how long it takes Windows 7's voice recognition to transcribe a sentence of my voice to a word document on my dual core desktop tells me that real time voice recognition is very hard, and to say that a smartphone would be able to do it just doesn't sound realistic.
Having the smartphone send it to a server that translates it would seem more reasonable, but how is real time translation supposed to work when languages are not translated word for word? It would have to wait for you to finish a sentence before it even begins to translate.
Finally, shouldn't we get text to text translation right before we do voice translation?
