100% Unbiased: Google Co-Founder Reviews Android Phone

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponReddit

Corporate honchos often abuse earnings calls – and other similar events - for making grandiloquent claims and promises. Google co-founder Sergey Brin used Google’s third quarter earnings calls to broadcast his partisan review of the T-Mobile G1. He went gaga over the G1.

Brin said that he has been using a G1 as his primary phone for a few months now. He pointed out a few of the endearing qualities of the G1, while omitting any possible shortcomings. “I'm able to search and browse through my Gmail just as if I was at my desktop,” said Brin. He also praised its web browser and, finally, encouraged people to try the first Android phone themselves.

Those aren't solar panels. Solar panels have a bunch of tiny black squares in it!! But I DO know what they are!!!!! ......ahem......cough......

They are.....GEORGE FORMAN MINI BURGER COOKERS!!!!! Can cook three at a time and the more you talk, the faster they heat up! After talking for a while, simply hang up, flip the phone over and cook till desired! It has s special stylus that also acts like a mini spatula! How can you go wrong with this phone??? Man I tell ya!

avatarHi

I'm Google saying "buy my phone". I saw it, but not in person. They said that there was a bug that made it so the clock and the desktop clock (like on the desktop, not taskbar) couldn't even match up.

That's why he's holding the phone backward so you can't see the clocks that are different. Amazing.

avatarHere in Phoenix we have a 3g

Here in Phoenix we have a 3g network and I can't wait to get my hands on this device. What I've been wondering about though is the Latency of the network. Is it a noticable latency that would keep me from using the 3g network as a replacement for my cable 16mb connection? I used to have satalite and the latency wouldn't allow online gaming and VOIP.  25bucks for unlimited..

avatarKeith, NO phone right now

Keith, NO phone right now will even compare to a 16mb connection. I have a diamond (3G) with sprint in a highly developed area. The 3G is GREAT for on the go and it's pretty fast....about a 3.1mb downstream...

The phone is crap. Look at the specs. My old mini notebook from 1999 with a 166Mhz cyrix proc and 128MB ram blows this thing out of the water and it's not that much bigger. Anyhow, the specs again....My Touch diamond with a 528 Mhz proc and 288MB DDR ram and a VGA screen puts this phone in the ranks of playschool toys.

avatari would...

I would be more than happy to use a "gphone" if it was with a carrier that got signal in my area. Unfortunately im stuck with verizon or sprint.

avatarYeah, I wouldn't mind

Yeah, I wouldn't mind tmobile so much since they do seem cheaper but their 3G coverage is brand-new and crap. Of course the bigger carriers would try to lock it down, but hopefully they can't. Hopefully in a little less than 2 years when my current Verizon contract is up they'll get some Android phones. I love everything about the G1 except the network.
