Google Chrome may Come Pre-installed on new PCs Next Year

Internet Explorer may be slowly losing ground to Firefox, but it’s still by far the number one browser in the world with over 71% of the market. Why you ask? Simple, it comes bundled with every new PC and is the most widely known and supported web platform in the world. Google knows if it is to gain market share they are more likely to steal from IE users who simply use whatever browser ships with their new PC. To this end The Times Online has revealed details on what they call “Google’s plan to make Chrome the browser of choice for the everyday user”.
According to Google’s Vice President of Product Management Sundar Pichai Chrome will come out of beta sometime in January at which point they would pursue distribution deals with various OEM’s. This would see Chrome ship as the default browser on some new machines, and in theory drive up its popularity. Paichai also added that the Mac and Linux versions of Chrome will be available by the first half of next year as well. Currently only Windows users have been able to participate in the open beta. Past anti-trust rulings against Microsoft would make blocking Google’s plans rather difficult, and according to Paichai “We will throw our weight behind it. We’ve been conservative because it’s still in beta, but once we get it out of beta we will work hard at getting the word out, promoting to users, and marketing will be a part of that.”
So will pre-installing Chrome help Google gain market share?

I do a clean install with my own install disk as soon as I buy a prebuilt. If I want to install a crappy tenth rate web browser, I can do it myself thank you very much.
Yet another buggy browser based on Apple's web kit.

I've been in development of a major web application over the past two years. Everything works fine in IE and Firefox. Safari is a buggy piece of crap on any platform. What does Google do? Base their new browser on Apple's web kit. The result? yet another browser with all the idiotic bugs that Safari has. Even IE 7 sticks to the so-called "standards" better than Chrome. Bah!
Um...

Safari 4 is the most web standard compliant, or at least thats what I've heard. Have you ever tested IE with Acid3, the result is embarassing. IE isn't standard compliant, just Microsoft compliant, that means that it does the best job at displaying web sites that are Microsoft compliant. Microsoft kind of goes off and does its own thing. IE is a joke.

I kinda like the idea of my next Windows coming with the most popular options preinstalled. All I have to do is select witch browser I want.
Instead of making just the search provider an option make the browser also an option at installation.
Would you like to install Chrome, FireFox or IE8 or all Three? That should be part of the OS installation process.
I prefer Chrome because of it's speed and I also use Firefox3 and IE7 when I find incampatibilities.
Chrome is nice though.
Now it's Google Bloatware

People are wising up after the pre installed Vista debacle.....to be honest I don't trust Google anymore.....sure they have nice programs, but they sell your' information (aka browsing habits) to anyone with a bank roll. I realize they are not the only ones.....but when will consumers wise up and start purchasing OS and bloatware free PCs? After all PC does stand for PERSONAL Computer.
Lets just hope DeCrapifier will remove Google Chrome also.
Chrome without the Google

If you don't trust Google with your information, you can still download and use a variant of Chrome if you're interested. SRWare also had misgivings about Google's collection and retention policies, so it released what it calls Iron, which is Chrome without the Google information-collection aspects of the browser. SRWare was able to strip these items out because Google provides access to the browser's source code. If you're interested in downloading Iron, visit http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php.

eh chrome will be better than all the other bloatware that come on oem machines
Gee, I hate it when shit comes pre-installed on machines I buy

The only thing I want pre-intalled on an OEM rig is Windows. I am, however, looking forward to Chrome's end of the beta phase. Once that happens, I'll probably install it and give it a try.
