Google Android Tablet Coming to Verizon
Despite the cancellation of the Verizon Nexus One, Big Red is looking like a very Android-friendly carrier as of late. This is especially true given the news that the nation's second largest carrier is working with Google to deliver an Android-powered tablet. This has been confirmed by Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam. Elaborating further McAdam said, " "We're working on tablets together, for example. We're looking at all the things Google has in its archives that we could put on a tablet to make it a great experience."
Verizon did not disclose any sort of timeline or details for the tablet. In an interview with Bloomberg, Verizon's VP of corporate communications said more information about the Android-based tablet will be disclosed later this week. Do you think an Android tablet can compete with the iPad?

I spoke with a rep from Entourage Systems, Inc. (makers of the Entourage Edge). Here's how the email conversation went (his responses are copied and pasted below):
ME: I'm reading on the forums that a 3G model will be available at a later date. When will this be?
ENTOURAGE REP: We will be releasing another version of the same product we are
currently shipping with a built in 3G module this summer.
ME: I'm on T-Mobile and I know that they are the big company behind Android. What carrier will the 3G model be available on?
ENTOURAGE REP: It will work with just one very large carrier in the US. I cannot say
which one.
ME: How much will it cost?
ENTOURAGE REP: Pricing will be determined by the telephone carrier as the product will
be sold in their stores with an accompanying data plan.
ME: What new features will it have?
ENTOURAGE REP: No new features can be disclosed at this time.
"It will work with just one very large carrier in the US. I cannot say
which one."...maybe I'm over analyzing here, but that sounds like Verizon to me. AT&T would be stupid to carry it, Sprint damn well won't be the guys to carry something so risky after the Palm Pre failure, and I wouldn't classify T-Mobile as "very large"; large maybe, but not "very large". As much as I hope this is actually coming out on T-Mobile, I think Verizon will be the ones to do it.

At introduction, 3G support will be spotty. Google will look into this, but ultimatley deem their users unworthy of a fix. Four months after it is introduced, Google will drop all further development, any providers will drop support and it will be quickly canceled. Even the users who bought the tablet will accept this because it was never really about Google becoming a tablet manufacturer and they were never really commited to the tablet hardware market. After it is canceled, Google will begin pimping a different HTC-made tablet (maybe called the Incredible... wait, that's taken... no, the HTC Amazing tablet) running Andriod.
Hey Google, quit making paying customers the beta testers for hardware you know you're not going to support!

Are you serious? The android tablet is going to kick the ipads ass plus it wont have an accessory name that fits between a girls leg. If the android OS has taught us anything is that it can be customized for anything. AND you can download porn apps durr. lol

Is that what I think it is? YES! That's the smell of crushed hopes mingling with bullshit. There won't be an Android tablet for Verizon, much as I'd like it if there was.
