The highly contagious ultrabook virus has claimed yet another victim, with Gigabyte becoming the latest company to announce an ultrabook. The Taiwanese company has announced two 14-inch ultrabooks at the ongoing CeBIT trade show in Hannover, Germany. Hit the jump for more.
Both the U2442N and U2442V feature 3rd generation Intel Core i5/i7 processors (read: Ivy Bridge), but the former is powered by standard voltage Ivy Bridge chips, whereas the latter uses ULV (ultra-low voltage) processors.
Save for the above difference, the two models are almost identical. The U2442N and U2442V both feature a 1600x900 LED-backlit display, GeForce GT 640M GPU with 2GB VRAM, and either an SSD or up to 750GB hard drive storage. Further, Gigabyte has confirmed the presence of USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, Thunderbolt (optional) and dual-antenna Wi-Fi. The entire package is 18.5-20.5mm thick and weighs just 3.3 pounds.
Gigabyte expects to launch the U2442N and U2442V in the States sometime during the second quarter of 2012.
