Gateway Launches New NV Series Notebooks with AMD Inside
Gateway sent us word early this morning that the OEM is releasing a new notebook line designed around AMD's Fusion platform. It's the NV Series, which culminates in the Gateway NV51B05u, a 15.6-inch laptop sporting an AMD E-350 APU with Vision Technology and ATI Radeon HD 6310 graphics. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the price.
Even though the NV51B05u is the flagship model of the NV Series, pricing starts at $470. Granted that doesn't buy a powerhouse setup iworthy of desktop replacement status, but it does get the above mentioned processor and graphics along with 3GB of DDR3 memory, 500GB hard drive, 8x DVD burner, 2-in-1 memory card reader, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and VGA outputs, full-size keyboard with multi-gesture touchpad, 1.3MP webcam, Cyberlink PowerDVD and Nero 9 Essentials multimedia software, Microsoft Office Starter 2010, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and a 6-cell battery.
"Mobile computing is something that everyone has embraced -- and even those on a tight budget are now able to have a full-featured notebook for computing and staying in touch on-the-go," said Eric Ackerson, senior product marketing manager for Gateway notebooks. "The new computing capabilities are paired with a full suite of features and extras that give our customers what they need to work, study, connect, and have fun. Plus, we've reached a new level of affordability with budget-minded price tags, so our customers get an incredible bang for their buck."
Reaching even further in the bang-for-buck barrel, Gateway also announced the NV51B08u built around AMD's C-50 processor. Pricing for this model starts at $400.
