Gateway Goes for Style Points with New ID Series Notebook
Modern. Chic. Eye-catching. Those are the three adjectives Gateway's using to describe its new ID series, a thin and light notebook family sporting sleek silver casing and an aqua-blue touchpad that glows when you lay your grubby paws on it.
"Notebooks are more than ever an expression of who we are and what’s important to us," said Ray Sawall, senior product marketing manager for Gateway notebooks. "The look and feel of the Gateway ID Series notebooks is so unique that anyone will be drawn to them – especially to the touchpad that resembles a swimming pool inviting customers to ‘dive in’ and enjoy the notebooks’ advanced capabilities and entertainment features. And with NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics with Optimus technology, consumers can experience improved graphics performance when it matters, backed by battery life preservation for longer use."
Marketing mumbo-jumbo aside, the ID series debuts with two models, the 14-inch ID49 and 15.6-inch ID59. Both units measure just 1 inch, while the former weighs 5.07 pounds and the latter 5.5 pounds. Underneath the aluminum alloy hood you'll find an Intel Core i3 or Core i5 processor, up to 8GB of memory, up to 500GB of hard drive storage, DVD burner, HDMI port, Wi-Fi, 1.3MP webcam, and other odds and ends.
Both models will be available soon in a variety of configurations with pricing starting out at $680 (ID49) and $800 (ID59).
