Gateway All About Appearances, Announces "Trend Setting" Netbook
Gateway's treating its latest run of laptops as if getting ready for a fashion show, and while we're willing to award style points for the company's new ID series, we're not so sure we feel the same about its LT23 Series netbook.
Going for a "sophisticated all-new upscale design that elevates its status to 'must-have' for every fashion-conscious mobile PC customer," the LT23 comes decked out with a mosaic pattern you're not going to find on any other netbook. Beauty, of course, is in the eye of the beholder (just ask Tom Arnold, whose first marriage was to Roseanne Barr), so we'll keep the focus on the hardware.
Towards that end, the LT23 is just like any other modern netbook. There's Intel's Atom N450 processor, the new standard in netbooks, as well as 1GB of memory. The 250GB hard drive is a welcome bump in storage compared to yesterday's netbooks, and kudos to Gateway for including a 6-cell battery capable of providing up to 8 hours of run time.
Several configurations are available now starting out at $330.

Ha ha, a Rosanne Bar joke from a guy that looks like Vincent Schiavelli with a goatee; how sophmorish. Speaking of which, do articles have to be accompanied by a picture of the writer? Is this a new thing? I never noticed before but it seems now the picture really stands out; get rid of it! I couldn't care less what the person who wrote the article looks like, goofy smiles and all, it's distracting. Oh, and about the article: I've had my fill of netbooks with the same bs specs! This Gateway: YAAAWN.

I'm not a big fan of the thumbnail pics either, but Vincent Schiavelli? Really? That, my friend, is the first (and I'm willing to bet the last) time that comparison's been made.

They look nice enough however netbooks are basically commodity items so it really depends on price and the quality of their customer service. The prices seem to be average but I can't say anything of their customer service since I've never dealt with them. I'll stick with my ASUS. Their service sets the bar for what other companies should want to be.
