Europe has more potential than USA as gaming market, says Forbes
According to the good fellows at Forbes, our brethren across the pond should be gaming’s real focus, but sadly, developers are too focused on the hardcore U.S. market to notice. Wait, sadly? I, as a card carrying Yank, love the attention. Plus, do you really want your favorite developers to focus on casual gaming, which Forbes alleges Europeans have taken a shine to?
BioShock PC install limits removed, DRM remains
Big Daddies, Little Sisters, and Plasmids – oh my! And now they can all run rampant on as many PCs as you want. One caveat, however: Bioshock must still bear the shackles of SecuROM protection, so this is one game in which you won’t be selecting “Register Later.”
ESRB changes online listing policies
Over the past few months, the ESRB has been leakier than a perforated fire hose – inadvertently “announcing” games week after week. Well, no more. Now, publishers can embargo their games, so even though a game might receive an ESRB rating, it won’t be known to the general public until a later date.
Valve Gives A Peek Into TF2's New Site
“Our hope is that we'll be providing you with a variety of interesting things to read, whether you're a hardcore TF2 player or whether you've just started. We'll be going into the details behind some of the gameplay, posting a bunch of the concept art we haven't released before, and showcasing the great content the community is creating.”
Valve just keeps raising the bar for supporting a game after its release. Seriously, they’re on their way to getting their own holiday – which will inevitably be confused with Plumber Appreciation Day, but still. Good job, Valve. Keep it up.
BioWare considering Wii, PSP development
Wherever Bioware goes, RPG fans follow, and after hammering the final nails into Sonic Chronicles, the first Sonic game to actually look promising in years, Bioware’s greener pastures may include the Wii and PSP. Could we see an RPG that actually puts Nintendo’s waggle wand to good use? Time will tell.
