GameFly's Fifth Distribution Center is Seattle Bound
As Netflix looks to move further away from DVD-by-mail rentals and focus more attention on its streaming service, GameFly is taking the exact opposite approach and continues to beef up its games-by-mail operations. The videogame equivalent of Netflix (minus the streaming capability), GameFly is adding a fifth distribution center to help serve its expanding membership. This newest one will land in Seattle, Joystiq reports..
GameFly already has distribution centers in Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Tampa, and Austin, which serve up subscription-based game rentals for the PlayStation 3, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, and DS, as well as a handful of older consoles, like the PS2, original Xbox, GameCube, and GameBoy Advance.
According to news and rumor site Fudzilla, GameFly is still trying to go public, a process that's taking longer than expected. GameFly, which began operations in 2002, originally filed for a $50 million IPO back in February 2010 and at the time claimed more than 334,000 subscribers and over 7,000 titles.
