G-Form Extreme Sleeve Offers Rugged Protection for Your Laptop
Most laptop bags are designed to help you transport your portable PC and all of its accessories from point A to point B, while offering basic protection from the elements. Not G-Form's Extreme Sleeve for Laptops. This rugged sleeve has one goal in mind: to protect your laptop from impact unlike any other sleeve on the market. It's made from the same material as G-Form's Extreme Sleeve for iPad, in which the company demonstrated how it was able to withstand being dropped 500 feet from an airplane, and even having a 12-pound bowling ball come crashing down on it.
This time around, G-Form posted a video of the Extreme Sleeve for Laptops protecting a 13-inch MacBook Pro from a 20-foot drop at a construction site. It hits the ground with a thud, and then fires right back up after being removed from the sleeve. Pretty impressive.
"The response to our Extreme Sleeve has been overwhelmingly positive, and as a result we are now offering the same remarkable protection technology for laptops," said Thom Cafaro, Innovations Manager at G-Form. "Now laptop users can enjoy the same confidence in knowing that their device is sure to be protected against a whirlwind of drops and impacts."
The rugged looking case utilizes what G-Form calls 'Reactive Protection Technology,' which allows the sleeve to be soft, light-weight, and flexible, but "instantly stiffens upon impact and absorbs over 90 percent of the energy," G-Form says.
The Extreme Sleeve for Laptops is available for 11-inch, 13-inch, and 15-inch laptops and is up for preorder for $70. Units will ship on May 31, 2011.

What does something like this cost? Should we be expecting to fork out an undisclosed sum to purchase this military grade protective armor for a start-er-upper economy class lap-slab? Does it come with accessories, like perhaps a rugged tactical bug out bag like a maxpedition versipack to carry it in? Or will it just clip into a wearable MOLLE snap platform on your business suit? Does it have room for extra battery magazines to keep the lap-slab fired up? Maybe a coupple of built in fans too so we don't burn out just wardriving along the way to the coffee shop book nook at the edge of the neighborhood.

I Imagine it would fir the MX11, with a lil bit of slop though, which might defeat some of the protection.
but while it's a great deal of protection, I carry extra gear like a mobile mouse, some thumb drices, and even paperowrk, so I need a case, not a sleeve :(

See, now the real question is if they used an SSD or a regular hard drive....I doubt that a regular hard drive would withstand a 500 foot drop. iPads have flash memory, and newer macbook pros have an SSD option on them dont they?
