Seriously I was one of those stupid AMD Fan boys pissed at Intel for what ever reason was being thrown up at the time. I would defend AMD even at their suckiest. Well I decided to give Intel a try and you know what, they were better. I noticed better speeds when starting up, running programs for school and work, and also in gaming. I am not an Intel fan boy nor am I an AMD fan boy, I just go with what works and what works the best and right now that is Intel by a pretty good stretch. They do have higher prices but that is because people keep trying to sue them for manufactured reasons that don't really exist. I would almost bet that AMD paid those places to say Intel did something wrong so they could sue them and get money. Or maybe Intel did provide incentives to companies that would do more things with theirs than AMD who cares. If AMD can't do something of the like regardless of how ethics plays into this if AMD isn't willing to try some things then they need to concede the battle but if they are truely wanting to make it then they need to come to war not to play a game. Business is rough and it isn't or attractive it is dirty and hard.

So your solution is that everyone should play dirty and we don't need laws and such for business? Got it. Glad you're not in charge.

If you don't understand how these tactics have gotten intel to where they are today. And who cares about kickbacks? Are you frillin kidding me?

Actually the FTC has been looking into this for quite some time. Its been an on going investigation way back when AMD was the defacto better cpu.
I'd imagine that the Nvidia lawsuits with Intel have put more urgency into the investigation of late. Not to mention the EU fine of Intel makes the FTC look a little impotent.

Ouch!
But that's okay, Intel is at the top - they can afford these 'costs' of doing business.
Just watch, come next month, all CPU prices will double - and still people would buy them.

Seriously? Yeah, the Intel CPU prices will climb and stupid people will buy them only because they think Intel is that much better than AMD. Like I've said before and I'll say it again. I have built and owned both platforms and in real world day to day chores, I see no impacting difference between the two whatsoever that makes me scream "Intel, I love you!"

I actually prefer AMD, unlocked multiplier for <$200. And the same gaming performance.

not with AMD producing competing products that are only beat because of Intel's price/performarce ratio.if Intel prices double that phenom x2 looks mighty tasty next to the new price match in core 2
