Found on Street View: Google Maps Truck Hits a Baby Deer

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

It would appear that the folks doing Google’s Street View will use all of the images that they can get their hands on, regardless of content. And now, along with a man robbing a house and a patron walking into a porno shop, they’ve managed to hit and kill a fawn.

Should you find yourself using Street View to observe Five Points Road in Rush, NY you’ll see an image of the fawn in question running out in front of the car, and subsequently lying dead (still on one piece, thankfully) on the side of the road. Notably, that’s the last of the data for that road as they reportedly pulled over.

We can’t help but wonder why they didn’t just use this data? Sure, there’s an astronomical number of pictures that these folks have to go through and add to each region, but don’t you think this is something the drivers would have mentioned? Surely, it had to be more obvious to the driver than the “hot babes” truck.

The deer had it comin'. It was either that or a pair of cement shoes to go swiming for ratting on the gopher!

avatarDead Deer

That's terrible, letting it lay on the road like that...In my opinion, you should always eat what you kill (Humans preferably excluded ^_<).

avatarOh no!

Oh no! Google has a share in the survival of the fittest! Better that Google killed it than me.

avatarIt almost feels like...

Minority Report... without seeing into the future.  Google still has the whole time continuum thing in the alpha stage.

avatarFound It!

It's 836 Five Points Rd, if your interested. They've blocked it out though. You can see the deer beginning to cross at 832.

If humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

Ah I am thinking that there could be better news than this horrid stuff on MPC.

Bummer.

I did like the piece. You can call it The consequences of Technology, if you must have a moral side on the story :)
