The Five Seconds You Spent Reading This Headline Could Have Been Spent Playing the StarCraft II Beta

Wait. You read that headline and still chose – of your own volition – to read this article? Either you really love us or your fun radar needs a good tune-up, but either way, we like you more than we like all of our other readers.
With that said, the StarCraft II Beta is live. That is, playable. Right now. Here’s your complimentary link to the Battle.net site where you can download the full 1.64 GB beta client and jump right into the action. Well, ok, the file’s pretty big, so you might not be jumping right into the action so much as you’ll be queuing up the action so you can maybe dive into it tomorrow after work.
Aw, who are we kidding? You're skipping work tomorrow. In fact, something tells us a large portion of the world is about to come down with "a headache... er, a cough... and I think I might have a fever too."

You don't need a WoW account to get the beta, ANY key will do!
I used my original Diablo II CD key from about 10 years ago, worked like a charm!
Ciao!

of following links provided by the magazine article, I finally came back here to find out that I really couldn't check out the beta like the article led me to believe. I really don't care for Battle.net because I don't play WOW, but now I'm a member, and still had to come back here to discover I can't get my hands on the Beta. You ever get the feeling that you are led to chase your tail like a dog and don't get anywhere. Somebody some where must be getting a good laugh out of this. If I live long enough I might eventually be able to buy the game. I just hope it lives up to all its hype.

I haven't recieved my Beta key yet... maybe it's because I don't pay into WoW or because I haven't let Blizzard steal my soul...

You have to have a full version game from Blizzard to enter. I dont own any so I guess I will wait till the final version comes out

This is pretty disappointing. From the tone of the article, you could be mislead into thinking that the beta's open for everyone. It isn't. :(

good joke if it is...i got the system check all done, and registered a fresh new account for BNet...

If you got an invite or picked up a beta key at BlizzCon, signing in to Battle.net should be all you need to do.
Blizzard hasn't provided any other means of accessing the beta, so if it's not working for you, you might be out of luck.
