58,000!!!! You would think he would be a little more cautious, seeing as he's the only one in possession of it. People with that kind of money and valuables need to install home security systems to say the least. I'm sure the cost would seem like pocket change to them. Two houses on our street got broken-into this year but they're the nicer ones on our block. Luckily my husband and I haven't had our home targeted yet, but on the other hand I don't think they would get away with anything other than a flat-screen TV and a computer...yeah people like this are ridiculous. You should expect someone is gonna try to burglarize your home if you have pricey things lying around!

My dream camera got stolen...To bad i don't have that kind of money to buy one. But the Red One is only $25,000.00, which I don't have the money either...anyway who ever stole it, won't have the brains to know how to use it.

at least the victim wasn't some poor indie film director who is trying to cut budget by reducing film developing cost.

also... is this camera for personal use? or is it for production/work related purposes?

The OP shows the camera at 53K in the first paragraph and 58K in the second.  When you go to post a comment, both paragraphs show 58K.  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

He put $7,000 in the pocket of a company that can conitnue to employ workers. Consumer spending accounts for 2/3rds of the US economy. We need more people like him spending that type of coin.

I don't know how the story of the theft got out. I will give Mr. Pederson the benefit of the doubt and presume that he did not contact the media himself. If you have enough scratch to pay 58k for a toy, you should have enough sense to keep your mouth shut. The Toronto Star recently pusblished a story about a "Generation Y" type who had his $7,000 Ninja (whatever) motorcycle stolen. The photo featured a maudlin Mr. Whatever holding up his iPhone with a photo of the missing bike. The fact that Mr. Whatever lives in one of the many North American cities where 4 out of 10 people are unemployed escaped tha hapless reporter who sought to make news of the situation. If you have more money than you can use, put some of it to work for others - or shut the hell up. Happy New Year.

you are saying it's alright to steal from the rich? or are you saying the rich deserve to be robbed because they have more money? survival of the fittest, he can make more money, he can live a better life. just because he is better off than you, doens't make it alright to rub him.

I don't quite get what your trying to say. Are you trying to say that you should spend more money to help the economy or are you saying that instead of buying extravagant gear, you should be helping the poor? Times are hard but it's not the fault of any one individual. If you have the money for some nice tech then by all means get it. If it gets stolen I think you should do everything you can to get it back. Hell I'm poor, I just got a part time job after being unemployed for almost a year. Times are very rough but I'm not going to tell anyone how to spend their money. Hell, I wish people would buy more, that would put more Americans back to work. I just wish that WalMart would start making production and supply deals with American companies that employ Americans rather than Chinese. That's the problem, most everything you buy at the store these days is made over seas. No Americans employed, only the few Americans involved in the warehousing, shipping and receiving and the ultimate retail sale people that work at the stores. All those jobs are few and low paying. Don't be pissed at a guy that gets his high dollar camera stolen, get pissed at the government that does nothing to keep companies from sending American jobs over seas. These are hard times and drastic measures should be employed. I'm not saying communism but some socialism kinda like the New Deal of the last Depression wouldn't hurt. Look at Russia, they have a rule, you do business in Russia, the profits must stay in Russia. I like that, any profits made in the US by a company must stay in America. And for gods sake, end the damn foreign aid, hell we need foreign aid ourselves.

When your desperate like a lot of Americans are right now, you really don't care what happens as long as your situation changes for the better and you can keep a roof over your family and supper on the table. You just don't know what you'll do when your children look at you crying because they haven't eaten in a few days. It's more animal emotion at that level. That's how Hitler got to power. Hitler did end the depression for the German people rather quickly. He was names Man of the Year by Time magazine, all of the important world leaders thought very highly of him before the war broke out, he ended up destroying civil liberty in Germany and killing 6million Jews and millions of people he determined to be undesirable. But the German people for a while were happy and didn't care because they weren't unemployed and hungry anymore. Something has to change or we are going to have our Hitler take power.

I feel for Mr. Pederson but I'm guessing that if a guy can spend $58,000 on a camera, he could afford some sort of home security such as ADT, Brinks, a couple rotties, or a mal-tempered baboon to protect him, his family, and property. I guess not though.

or ATLEAST put it in a safe don't leave it lying round for easy pickings dumb ass

He couldn't afford security after spending all his money on that camera.

I don't know man.  Having to deal with a mal tempered baboon everyday for breakfast would at least be a chore.
