First Dual-Core Smartphone Lands in Korea
My Korean language reading skills are more than a little rusty, understandalbe since I never learned Korean in the first place. But thanks to Google Translate, I get the gist of what Korea's IT Today is reporting. Meet LG's Optimus 2X, the world's first smartphone equipped with a dual-core processor.
Equipped with Nvidia's Tegra 2 platform, the Optimus 2X "superphone" purportedly cuts through 1080p recording like a battleaxe through butter. It's currently being sold in black trim, but will soon be shipping in a white shelled version, beating Apple to the punch.
Other features include a 4-inch touchscreen display, HDMI, and Android 2.2 (a Gingerbreak upgrade is in the works). No word on when LG will port this over to North American shores, but I imagine we'll be seeing dual-core smartphones en masse by the second half of 2011.

I believe that the title states that this is Korea's first dual core smart phone, not a "world first" you think is being implied.
Never herd of the "gingerbreak" version of android. Where can i get it?!

That phone is sexgsy as Hell! I really want one but I wouldn't be able to use most of its features since I am in Afghanistan.
For awhile I thought nVidia leaving the chipset business was bad. Now I see what they are doing with the Tegra and Tegra 2 I am impressed.

As far as I know, there are other dual core smartphones released much before this one, let's say, the Motorola Atrix.
