Facebook Valued at $50 Billion
If you crunch the secondary trading numbers, Facebook is now worth a cool $50 billion, TechCrunch reports. That means the social networking site is worth more than eBay and Yahoo, and almost a fourth of Microsoft's value.
"We successfully completed our initial Facebook auction last week but I cannot comment on the size, price, or participants in the transaction," said Mark Murphy, head of public affairs for SecondMarket, which auctioned off $40 million Facebook shares last week.
That number will probably go up, and very soon. TechCrunch got its hands on an email from SecondMarket, which suggests that a new auction is already underway.
