...filtering the News Feed and Live Feed has been possible for a long time. I already have filtered out all the apps I don't want to see on my feeds. Secondly, There have been scrips for Greasemonkey that do this exact thing for a long time as well. Thirdly, I think it's a great idea because it will remove the need for third-party scripts and/or reduce the now twenty-click affair to a three-click affiar.

I hope this works, because I fracking hate all those useless game notifications or updates that either come in through the live feed or on someone else's wall.
There's a GreaseMonkey script called Facebook Purity that helps out, though it would indeed be nice if you could actually filter all those junk messages out without the need for a 3rd-party app.
